My reasoning as to WHY Michael Vick will never be a viable NFL QB
Its not hard to watch, this guy is a HORRIBLE QB. Hear me out ....

He has a RUN FIRST, PASS SECOND mentality. This guy is to busy looking for holes to run through, while checking for open recievers. Unlike premiere QB's in the NFL who scan for open recievers, and arent looking at all for a hole to run through.

Vick lacks what we call "Pocket Presence". This is where the QB doesnt look at defenders coming at him or holes to escape from, but he can FEEL the pressure coming and the pocket collapsing. Watching Vick play tonight, he is moving his feet to much, constantly hanging on to the outer egde of the pocket looking to run out. Sure the Eagles dont have the best offensive line in the league, but it is a little better then average.

Michael Vick playing in the QB Position isnt the fit for him, when he has the mind of a running back. He looks uncomfortable in the pocket, his feet are constantly moving, he doesnt do a 2-3 step drop back, he isnt going to bring much to the Eagles except maybe sell a couple of more seats, and if McNabb get injured, lose a couple of games they wouldnt lose otherwise.

Vick is a desperation play if you need to put him in a "Must Win" game.

Have you ever seen the "Buffalo Wild Wings" commercial, where they ask the MLB Coach to extend the game? This is the same thing as putting Vick in, your giving up on the game .... Thanks for hearing me out on Vick, and comments are appreciated. (BTW I posted the Buffalo Wild Wings commercial, just replace the name "MAHONEY" with "Vick")

I will still call Vick "Mahoney"

The Mahoney of the NFL lol. I still cant believe they would get rid of Feeley over Vick. The vikings are even putting Tavaris Jackson out as some trade bait, which would have been a better pickup then Vick

I am an Eagles fan. I am not going to be judgemental of Vick yet! I will give him a chance. McNabb no doubt is a quality QB, but has not be able to get the job done. I agree that picking up Vick was a desperation move by the Eagles organization. They have to look ahead. McNabb isn't getting any younger and I think Eagles fans are getting fed up with Him. Vick is probably not going to solve Philly's QB problem, but at least they made a move. It should be an interesting situation if Mcnabb has a bad start or gets injured and Vick is at the wheel.

Imagine the Eagles go to the Championship game right before the Super Bowl .... McNabb was at home and cut his throwing hand requiring him to get 14 stitches.

The game to see who goes to the Super Bowl ... who do you play?

McNabb, but you wrap his throwing hand lol .... or Vick ... Or BET THE FARM on the opposing teams ML

There is a reason Vick is NOT the starter. I doubt he will be a starting QB on any team (except for maybe the Raiders). He was the same QB back in Atlanta, people just overlooked his weak passing abilities because he made a few spectacular plays on his feet.

The Eagles made a smart move by bringing Vick in. First, it will force opposing teams to spend time game planning for Vick and all the wildcat formations the Eagles can run with him. Second, it might put a fire under McNabb's ass, which he desperately needed. Third, the Eagles will probably make tons of money from all this...

The Eagles got a 1st overall pick for less than 2 million/year, that's a steal any day of the week.

He never really was a viable NFL "quarterback." He was always a great athlete, but always one of the worst passers in the league. Athletes playing quarterback will never work.

I think he is finally in the role he should be in. A back-up QB by title, who will also get first team snaps. Quite honestly, as an Eagles fan, I wish McNabb still had a little more of Vick's run-first mentality at times. Obviously, McNabb has lost a step and isn't as quick as Vick, but almost to a detriment at times, McNabb tries to be a pocket QB at all times instead of sometimes taking an easy 5 yards on the scramble now. It's a very interesting combo.

Vick will probably get a stab at a starting job again just because the QB job is so poor on the lower tier teams. He'd be smart to stay in a situation like this for the rest of his career.
