I can't relate, I've never used that book, people I respect that do business with GT say the same thing, great book.
You can't blame GT for this issue, they use the best resources available (Cloudfare) and they pay a premium for CloudFare. To blame Cloudfare is unfair too, up until now they've never seen anything like this before and their prior track record has been close to flawless.
Here's the problem in a nutshell.
The network of cyber crooks that operate out of Russia and China are beyond brilliant, they're borderline evil for attacking schools and hospitals etc. and holding them for ransom, not human kidnapping per se, but holding the technology needed to keep children alive in hospitals for ransom for instance.
You could say it's the same principle.
Anyway, like I said, the villain's we're talking about are brilliant and are usually one step ahead of the 'cyber sheriffs' out there.
It's not like our cyber police aren't as brilliant, they are, but the cyber crime networks outnumber the IT professionals educated in this area of protection and prevention by a 4:1 ratio, give or take. They can't keep up.
I've been in IT since the age of twenty, believe me when I tell you I can't do what they do.
Encryption for example is so complicated it's mind numbing.
Both sides, the good and the bad guys play on a whole higher level than 99.98 percent of the rest of the world.
You think earning certification from MS is difficult, this is 100 times greater.
That's the problem, we just can't keep up with all of this.
What's needed is more professionals trained in this field, and that's just half the problem.
There's a lot of truth when some people say the next World War will not be fought with humans and missiles and guns. The next World War will be a Cyber war, and if so, we don't have the man power to win that war.Comment -
