Maradona was the team, Argentina winning the world cup was down to him, Pele was a great player but also had a great team behind him. Its hard to compare the two as they were from different eras but for me its goto be Maradona.

Maradona , Maradona won big cups for mediocer teams, Pele spent his life in brazil, played with the best national team in the world who probz won the World Cup without Pele. No doubting Pele had a great World Cup scoring record, however his so called "1000" goal claim is very dubious. Also Pele has ended up making Viagra ads and embarasing himself with rediculas comments such as "Nicky Barmby - Up There With Zidane, Maldini & Ronaldo" which tarnish his reputation.
