Ah a Newbie. Fresh blood. Fresh meat. Yes yes yes, well son I remember when I first joined SBR. The forums were different then. We would receive a newsletter every week and respond to the forums much like we do today only we'd write it out by hand and mail it in. Soemthing you wrote about today might be posted in the SBR newsletter 4 months from now but we didn't complain. It was a bit difficult to keep track of the subjects but nobody minded and we just appreciated the opportunity to converse with other shut-ins, er, sports enthusiasts, like ourselves. And these "threads" they have these days. Threads were what poked out of your favorite shirt when you wore it too often. Dag nabbit. I wish we could go back to the old days of SBR. Back then, before all this offshore business, they reviewed sports books, real sports books. I'm talking about AJ Liebling's "The Sweet Science" - 1956, Roger Kahn's "The Boys of Summer" - 1971 or Jim Boutons "Ball Four" - 1970. None of these phony baloney sports books. I don't even know where you buy the books they review these days. Legends, Pinnacle, Carib and the one I was looking forward to reading, The Greek. Nowhere to be found. Oh well, I guess I'll have to keep looking. Anyway, welcome to SBR. The language can be a bit salty but the site sure is shweeeet!

#12General, thank you because quite honestly, I don't understand why they don't understand. It's a joke. I'm pretending to be an old bastard who is talking about SBR reviewing real BOOKS (the kind you read...I know, it's a new concept to you guys). And now they've switched to reviewing Sportsbooks (as in betting ) and he still thinks this site reviews BOOKS (once again, the kind you read). Dear God, I know this is a sports site but can we strain the brain just a tad every now and again here boys. I guess if you have to explain a joke it's not worth telling. I gotta start posting somewhere else.Comment -

I wanted to see a reply like this but it wasn't in the thread, so I put it in myself.Originally posted by Dark HorseIf with religion you mean belief system, your belief system is your religion. Again, it matters not what it is. You believe in it, you are loyal to it, would defend it, and yet have no proof of it, other than that, at one point or another, you chose to believe in it. Self-hypnosis. What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?Comment -
