    Insomnia
It's been having it's way with me lately.

    Anyone ever suffer from this?

I slowed down a lot on the booze the past 3 months and quit smoking and I think that has something to do with it. Not gonna start boozing again to solve the insomnia though.

I don't fall asleep until 7:00 AM sometimes.

    I dread night time now.

If I have a really bad night I sleep for 1-2 hours.

I would say most nights I sleep from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM but it's shitty, broken up sleep.

At times I do...usually on workout days. Nothing worse than being tired as shit and not able to fall asleep...I love sleeping and it pisses me off when I can't. Been popping a couple of Tylenol Simply Sleep pills on workout nights about 30 min before bed and that has done the trick.

Ambien worked the first 5 times I used it but then nada.

I may try those Simply Sleep things that diogee mentioned.

Maybe your system has to get use to less booze and no smoke? Lock, if you can definitely stay away from the smoke, all smokers know it's bad but just can't stop doing it! I surmise you don't drink coffee?

My sleep suks, but I just hold to the fact that no one has died from lack of sleep. I can relate.

Also, the lack of a depressant like booze after prolong use will cause this.

It's a pain in the arse but you'll be ok.

Try and read, exercise or watch tv, sir. Any hobby that may take your mind off sleeping.

                    online poker is 24/7, too

I quit coffee when I quit smoking.

It's weird, when I stopped smoking, I lost a lot of the urge to drink alcohol and coffee.

I've been having trouble sleeping as well. I started taking melatonin and that has helped. Ambien is good but you need a prescription for that.

I used to be an insomniac, I would not feel the slightest bit tired until 6:30am most days and if I stayed up till about midday I would feel as if I was rested. I was only able to go to sleep if I started eating meals at normal times, big breakfast at around 7am, big lunch about 1pm and then dinner at about 7pm. Exercising throughout the day helps a lot too, I tried to exhaust myself so my body would have no choice.

                                  Easy solution.

A few years ago I went to Africa and I was hunting rhinocerouses w/ a spear and a blow torch (this was all they had available in the village at the time). Anyways, after knabbing about one or two rhino heads and throwing them over my shoulder I would head back to the village and trade in my catch for whatever was of value. So one day there was this lady Umbu Watutu Matutu MeDoYou HowNow YouLikeIt. I told Ms. MeDoYou that I had trouble sleeping.... and she gave me a recipe that cures insomnia. Basically, you combine four pubes from jungle pussy, a bowl of chicken soup, and 3 carrots. Heat it over a fire and then gargle that shit for about 5 minutes while dancing by the fire in your thong. (Old African style). First time I did this all the villagers were laughing at me and I swore I'd kill Ms. MeDoYou... but after the 5th minute... I dropped down by the fire like a ton of bricks and slept for 15 hours straight.

Don't worry about getting an adequate supply of pubes from jungle pussy.... you can order it online at jungletrim.com. I reccommend you wash and disinfect the jungle pussy pubes before you gargle them.

                                  Best of luck.

I got a case of insomnia reading about insomnia in this thread. Laid down at 3:30 AM and never went to sleep. May as well tough it out all day and try for sleep tonight.

Ever try meditation or yoga? I have not, but sounds like the problem is in your head. Whenever I can't sleep its because I can't clear my head. I can't say I have gotten to the insomnia stage, but check into it..

I defiantly have some mental problems in my head. I find myself thinking to much when I try to sleep. Thinking about everything other than sleep. never tried the meditation or yoga.

It's never been much of a problem for me except in my old oilfield days when we'd be on a rig all night and I would have trouble occasionally sleeping during the day unless we'd been working a job 40+ hours straight. If I'm not asleep within five minutes of my head hitting the pillow these days, I just get up and read or write.

Know what you mean General, the bit about 'thinking too much.' The reading/writing seems to work on those nights for me, perhaps it serves to empty my head out of whatever is circling around? Wife has trouble as well worrying about stuff while she's trying to fall asleep. Think she makes the mistake of trying to get the telly to help her fall asleep and then gets to engrossed in a show to leave it.
