#11The White Sox latest loss in Minnesota was the perfect backdrop for the team unofficially raising the white flag.
Multiple media outlets reported on Monday night that slugger Jim Thome and pitcher Jose Contreras had cleared waivers and were headed out of town. Thome was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Contreras was traded to the Colorado Rockies.Comment -

#20Remember right after Manny signed his contract with the Dodgers it was rumored he called Jim Thome to discuss with him how cool it would be for them to finish their careers together in Cleveland. Getting a player of Thome's caliber is an obvious plus but should also relieve some pressure off Manny and help him get out of his slump. Looks like we are headed for a Dodgers Cardinals showdown for the NL Pennant.Comment -

#23i just heard on the dodgers post game show that ned calletti (sp?) talked to thome, and thome said playing first place was prolly out of the question, but he would do what ever he could of the bench if the dodgers were willing to have him. looks like now they have a power guy in thome and a speed guy in pierre coming off the bench. even an in between guy with belliard that can do both. some very good moves by the dodgers over the last couple days.Comment -

#28Thome hasn't really been in the field since 2006... big liability on the base paths, and prob a big liability at first base... but its nice to have some pop coming off the bench
what 2 guys are the dodgers taking off the 25 man roster for thome and garland?Comment -
