How did they do against the best teams from the East this year before the Landeskog injury? As a former juniors player and short stint in the minors...the game has changed. There aren't any big open-ice hits anymore and I've watched lots of hockey this year. A few hits on the boards still. You can even look at the players. They aren't built for major checking.

So, will they start all this checking when the playoffs begin? If they don't, then the chances go way up that nobody will beat Colorado. There are a couple teams in the west that gave them trouble during the season. Certainly, 3-4 teams from the East that could give them trouble in the Cup Finals.

I'm not convinced all this checking will re-appear because players aren't used to it anyway. I really won't know until I watch the first few games. The game has changed 100%. They lost me when they stopped body checking. I could live without all the fights, but no checking......its not real hockey to me. Fun and entertaining, but not real hockey.

They used to take their helmets off and drop them for fights. Now, they leave the helmets on and have these half-shields. I'm not even sure how you can land a clean punch.

Hitting picking up a little here.......probably 3 teams in the West that can play with Colorado and potentially beat them in best of 7. Nashville, as you can see, is not one of them. I really don't think the Blues match up well either. Minnesota would give them a run for their $$$, but they may not get passed the Blues.

EDIT: In the East, I consider about the same....3 teams that could beat them.

colorado is battle tested and a good team, problem is their odds every year only like 4/1, not good enough at all, if they ever go down 3-2 in a series they will be +250 on that series alone, so there is no point in betting this imo

Gee, I tell ya. Want a lot of goals in a game? Just have penalties called for over half a game. Power plays for almost half the game. I've never seen it this bad. Has me thinking with them having the ESPN/TNT/TBS contracts for the playoffs this is their plan.
