If there’s coach and player duo that can pull this off, it’s the one in philly.
I was thinking exactly the same thing
I also think Toronto is a better team without FVV. Much much better defensively

The one and only Doc Rivers, James Harden and Joel Embiid. They can feel their nuts in their throats right about now.

Doc would never again coach in the NBA. We all know that. Steve Nash never should have coached in the first place, we all know that too. if Steve nash was black they would have called him an idiot long ago.

Doc should have sat Embiid last game. Embiid is the key. What he was tonight, not himself, not in the paint..
he's injured and it's not Doc's fault. But Doc really should sit him next game in Toronto, empty the bench
and bring him back after some rest for a final Gm7 rather than do anything like tonight again.

Yeah it's just bad news. The guy is fragile. Maybe Doc is pressing it. Maybe that's his problem, who knows.

I'm probably going to hedge out of my Philly series bet for some profit.
Focus on GSW and take Boston next series.
It's not justfiable the way Embiid is to depend on Philly
Harden needed to step up tonight.
I'll check the odds tomorrow

My take is Raptors to win the series of nothing, as I said earlier here I never trust a Canadian team as favorites (=1.5 is close enough to favorite)
But, as people have seen I've been a big mush here, so if you fade take the 6ers to win the series.
It's still a live bet for me, to win small, incredibly enough. And I said Embiid might get hurt any minute now. If you throw enough darts you eventually hit the board.

If you want to know why taking a Canadian team as a favorite in basketball is a bad idea, just look at what Steve Nash did with the Nets.
If anyone can understand that, my guess is something about you is Canadian.

Steve Nash is not the reason the Nets got swept, and neither is Irving. The blame lies solely at the feet of Simmons. If you think they could have played Griffin at the 4 and Drummond at the 5 you're living in the past. Never been a fan of Griffin, though he was perhaps the Nets' best centre in this series. People blame Rivers or Paul for those Clippers meltdowns but that other guy was the main reason.

yeah I figured i could still chat. but no plays.
we will never know, but yeah i blame nash. they have outside shooting in Duratn, they had a spot up shooter in curry, a penetrator in irving, griffin at the 4 to set screens get rebounds play permiter d give you size (which they needed all series), and drummond/claxton at center
That is a balanced lineup.
What they had out there, 4 guards playing a big team, never worked. In the history of basketball, I'm unaware of it working.
Playing 2 bigger guys instead of small ball all the time? Despite 300 combinations, he never ONCE tried it. It's like I said, at least try to do it, if it doesn't work ok. But for this guy, who tries 20 different combinations a game, he never tried THAT. THE most normal lineup he could possibly put out there. It had to be about Steve Nash all the time.
Explain how Drummond plays 4 minutes and sits on the bench all game. Explain the Girffin/Claxton/Drummond rotation. Explain how he subs out Griffin in the last minute on defense, only to put him back in in the last minute.
Explain how in basketball, it works to put 200 different combinations out there during the year, and every game is a new combination. Explain how that works in a sport where knowing where your teammate is at all times/instinct is absolutely critical to team success.
So yeah, I put the #1 blame on him. Simmons was ready to come back, but not to this team. They would have had an elite defender. Is Simmons an a ss yeah.
They got a 6'10" elite small forward, but he doesn't have muscle. They needed muscle in the worst way. They were getting physically manhandled all series, and every game they broke down physically at the end.

The stats don't lie. The starting lineups
Celtics Tatum 6'8", Horford 6'9", Theis 6'8", J Brown 6'6", Smart 6"3', nobody 6'10" or over but tall and physically strong players who can hound perimeter guys
Nets Durant 6'10" (tall but skinny), Brown 6'4", Drummond 6'10" (got 4 minutes never played again), Irving 6'2", Curry 6'2"
off the bench for the celts was a guy who replaced the biggest player on the Nets Drummond (Claxton or Blake), and then 6'3" Dragic, 6'1" Mills
There are lengthy guys who can rebound-but kyrie can't rebound, neither can curry or brown. you are relying on one guy/center, and durant who is supposed to play offense.
When Blake Griffin was on the floor last night, the Nets were +10.
LaMarcus Aldridge, who couldn't get 3 seconds of playing time, is 6'11" 250 lb power forward/center. Last time this guy played was April 6, he got 3 minutes and permanently entered Nash's dog house. He has more height than every Celtic player, couldn't get a minute.
The Nets got physically manhandled, chewed up, and spit out
The most bizarre was the interview with Nash after the 3q, he even admitted his team was getting killed on the boards and manhandled. So the reporter asked him why did he go with a small lineup in the 3q (Celtics won the 3q 32 to 28). He said it's because there wouldn't be spacing to allow KD and Kyrie to penetrate. Don't you know having more guards playing the same position, can't go interior causes spacing issues? It's like playing defensive football on a dime/secondary formation every play-you just run the ball all the time, physically defeat the other team.
It is what it is-even if they win last night they lose the series. They were done, period. You can't play a team that is decidedly taller and stronger than you by choice. Anyone in basketball knows you have to have bigs. With only 1 big the entire series long, where the Celtics had 4, they Celtics just turned it on in the 2nd half and beat the living s hit out of the Nets. You tell me how a team with Kyrie and KD gets swept in the 1st round. I guess because the rest of the players suck, or they suck, or something-it's GOT to be something else
From @BrooklynNetscast twitter:
Steve Nash tonight: Had to have Seth Curry tell him he needed to be on the bench because he had 3 fouls early Ran 4 players 6’4 and under vs the biggest team in the NBA Has yet to touch a piece of paper or board to draw a play Get him out of here
And yet amazingly, Nash's job I read is safe. Obviously the GM and owner are on another page.
One more note we have about Nash's lack of communication skills as a coach. Here is Nash postgame talking about how much better the team will be when they get back an injured player and a guy who refused to play even though he could (talk about taking a s hit on your current guys, if only I had these guys I coulda done better):
“Yeah. I loved doing this and love these guys, love my staff, love all the departments. Really have a great working environment, really enjoyed it and want to continue doing it,” Nash said. “Ben Simmons and Joe Harris will give us a big lift and we’ll see how the rest of the roster rounds out, but we should be excited by that. Getting two of your top four guys back — two guys with size, one who’s an All-Star and one who’s one of the best shooters in the league — that gives us a big boost. "
You have got to be kidding me he's talking about how BEN SIMMONS IS GOING TO COME IN AND SAVE THIS TEAM AFTER WHAT SIMMONS PULLED

Don't forget an extremely confident and inspired Toronto team
Torontos defense has been unreal last 2 games. Whats crazy is they have one guy now who is below 6-7 and Gary Trent at at 6-5. Everyone else they play is a very athletic 6'7 to 6'9 and they're just playing fantastic defense

Interesting. Game 6 Tor is +100 so that implies if Tor wins Game 6 that they'd be +300 in Game 7..meaning another -8 spread. If Toronto wins 3 straight they're still going to catch +8/+300?
Actually I see +590 at Fanduel. That's pretty crazy. That's +345 Game 7.
