#145Unacceptable.
Any driver should know a standard car holds 18 gallons of gas.
Any driver should know a standard car gets about 20 or so mph on the highway.
A 10 year old elementary school child with a functioning brain should know if you have to go 100 miles on the highway and your car gets 20 mpg you need five gallons of gas to complete your trip, and if you know your car hold 18 gallons of gas you're going to a little more than a quarter tank, and if you don't have credit or cash to get gas along the way and you have less than a quarter tank, COMMOM SENSE should tell you you had better not start your trip.
And if you can't do basic fourth grade math you shouldn't be allowed to possess a drivers license.
But that's just me.
Don't misunderstand, what I just posted is not directed at Haskins, I was not there, there may be circumstances involved where maybe he had to leave his car, etc. etc. RIP sir, I'm sorry to hear you went out like that, you deserved much better, I'm speaking in general.Last edited by stevenash; 04-10-22, 04:11 PM.Comment -

#146Why does everyone assume he run out of gas? Wait until the facts come out. I find it strange that the police has not commented on whether his car was found nearby abandoned in the highway. It could have been easily reported by now and show pictures of a tow track taking it to the station to be processed for clues.
He may have not been driving as he is not from that area and was there for training. He may have been abandoned by a Uber driver that tried to rob him. He may have been abandoned by a teammate after a fight. Or a woman is involved that was driving him that is not his spouse.
Just because someone was trying to cross the street on an interstate it doesn't mean he run out of gas and was trying to find a gas station to buy a can of gas.Last edited by pavyracer; 04-10-22, 04:21 PM.Comment -

I've posted about four times in this thread and not once have I even thought that.
Rumors are rumors, if I comment on rumors I always qualify my comments with words similar to "rumor has it"...Comment -

#149True, I don't believe they've confirmed the run out of gas story.
Everyone assumes it because ESPN speculated it and reported it.
He was hit by a dump truck while attempting to cross the westbound lanes of I595. This is what we know.Comment -

#160Maybe something was going on, maybe he wasn't so focused on getting across the highway, maybe he drifted.
I guess we'll really never know.
There is a witness saying this...
Man believes he saw Dwayne Haskins on I-595 Minutes before death
According to NBC 6, a man believes he saw Haskins on I-595 westbound just minutes before the crash.
Chris Stanley claims he was driving home from the airport, approaching the off-ramp to I-95 North, when he noticed vehicles veering into his lane.
According to Stanley, the man's arms were raised slightly as he appeared to be drifting into the major highway.Comment -

#163It's not distasteful, it was inappropriate at that time.
At the time of the tweet Schefter was in the role of reporter, not journalist or editorialist.
Now let's say Schefter was on a show like "Sports Reporters" and he used the same "struggling to catch on" line I might agree.
A show like that the line would be appropriate and not distasteful.
Doesn't change the fact I think Schefter is good at what he does, it also doesn't change the fact I think he's a giant douche and asshole.
Oh well, we disagree.
I'll live.
I'm just saying that when we get out into the real world, this kind of reporting is common. Not only that, the relevancy and appropriateness does get debated when it comes up.
I'm also referring to articles more than tweets. That's why I mention all of it in a short tweet kind of hits hard.
For example I've seen both AAron Hernandez and Jr. Seau articles where the stroy of the murder, charges, suicide, etc is laid out, then at the end they'll talk about the football career...positive and negative.
It'll be like "Aaron Hernandez has been convicted of murdering some dude." Then the last paragraph will be like "Hernandez caught 25 passes for 5000 yards in his 20 whatver season etc etc."
It's like man, he just killed a dude, why you telling us about his pro bowl appearances...see what I'm saying?
Or "Jr. committed suicide last night, he's sruvived by so and so." He ahd xx tackles in his fianl season, less than before, blah blash.'
I think it all just looks worse in a condensed down day it happened tweet.
Plus everybody in the country is soft as fukk.
Still an unbeleivable story with haskins.Comment -

#169Once again professional athletes have come in question to their intelligence of driving awarness?
DeadWoods and now Haskins.
One isn't aware a car needs gas, and the other that speed kills.
Both not stupid people, makes you think....why?
It leads me to believe that possibly drugs were involved?
One should have died and the other did.......very sad what fame and money does to some people.Comment -

#172Dwayne Haskins was ‘drinking heavily’ hours before fatal accident
A toxicology report revealed that his blood alcohol content was between .20 and .24 when he died — which is up to three times the legal limit in Florida.

The nature of Haskins’s relationship with the unnamed woman was not included in the report.
I called it first.
