Did Jay Cohen Sink Offshore Wagering?
In my opinion yes, he was the guy that put too much attention on offshore gambling.

In my opinion it was the online Poker craze that has caused all of these problems

Sportsbetting was lowkey then suddenly the Poker craze catches on & anyone & his dog reckons they can be the next Poker millionaire

Without a doubt it was the online poker that really put online gambling in the spotlight.

That being said I do not think anyone could substantiate that any one single factor has caused the problem, BUT we can all agree that a problem exists now when it comes to enjoying the harmless activity of online gambling, and that problem my dear friends is called the USA

Alot of it also started because some of the books just did too much advertizing in the US.Billbords were everywere.Radio commericals on howard stern ..
I also agree that online poker advertizments was and still is the big problem
On NBC full tilt poker has a poker show on NBC 2am-3am[monday-friday]Every commerical is for full tilt..Come play with the pros

I would say online poker and him are the main reasons for the gov't crackdown.

                        I killed offshore gambling.

last year i went 0-6 in baseball one day. 4 of those losses were brutal should-have-wons.

That night I prayed to Zeus to destroy offshore gambling.

                        Sorry everyone.

I think off shore books sunk themselves. Most book were adverting and sponsoring events in the US market like what they were they were doing was legal. Most sportbooks thought nothing would every happen until the US call there bluff and they all ran and folded up shop with there tails between there legs. What happens to Jay should have been a lesson to all offshore books. If they would of just run there shops quietly they would still be in business today

Most Americans have no idea who Jay Cohen is but I would bet that quite a few people know who Calvin Ayres is. This guy is all over the TV promoting Bodog and poker. I think the industry screwed themselves by being so public about their business. I can't flip thru the TV without seeing poker. WTF?
