Man if close would only count once in a while !
That "ugly-as" field from ,what, the 25 yard line,[useless for Chicago] with 14 seconds left in the game and on the 7 yard line, COST ME a $125 2teamer on Denver and under 17 1/2 second half [+], yuck, and other extra plays on under 41 for entire game ,totally ,what I would have cleared for clear money,[without the FG] a $ 825 plus night !

Well not to be ...I end up losing $15, a swing of 840 bucks !

Not the worst lost I ever had ,that's for sure, however ,but what well "thought-out" brain-work went into that field goal decision when the game is 99% won if Denver takes over at the 7 yard line with ,what, 14 seconds left, losing by 7 ?
The worst scenario for CHICAGO not kicking the FG would have been a humongous 93 yard drive with 14 seconds left !

Wow ! So I suppose the field goal kicker for Chicago "needed" the experience ,right ?
These kind of losses ,if not careful, can "mess" with your mind and lead to a string of bad decisions .

Does anyone have any thoughts on that FG decision ?

Well the coaches like to see what the kickers can do, its preseason, the coaches want to get as much as a look at all their plays whenever possible. So kicking the field goal was meaningless to the game, and the standing in preseason, but it means a lot to the coaching staff.

Thats the breaks. Happens everyday ... just know that someone out there had the OVER 17.5, and they are happy as hell.

So in reality ,winning the exhibition game was NOT top priority for CHICAGO ?

I don't bet NFL preseason because these things seem to happen on the regular with coaches wanting extra reps.
Just reading the above post by oiler, exactly what I was going to say....wanted to see a few more guys performance on another kickoff.

Abe, you are displaying EXACTLY WHY so many suicides and divorces will occur throughout the fall season, pal. This sport is phucken brutal and merciless on the punter.

The seemingly senseless field goals, subjective holding calls that void a winning TD, etc. will DRIVE A MAN PHUCKEN NUTS! Look for many broken homes and self offings this fall. Sad but oh so true.
