I go to University of Cincinnati. I took Summer classes, so tomorrow is the last day. I have to take another test, but this is a take home test. UC is on the quarter system while many are on semesters, so I am always on different schedules than others. I have another two quarters and I will be done though.

Yes indeed. I am really awful with math, which is why I am taking it again. So I am hoping, somebody is good with math and could help out.

Where are you? Nope, Health Promotions in Exercise & Fitness. The math is just a general requirement for the college, so I need that to graduate. That's okay Frozen. Thanks anyway.

Not 100% sure what I want to do. Personal training is an option though. I can do a few things, but undecided. Illinois eh? November 27th is when they play. What is your major?

i'm looking at it for you and it makes sense but it makes my brain hurt to try to remember how to do it. i often found in stats it helped to draw the standard distribution curve (with the standard deviations and other data points marked on it) and try to figure out what i was trying to do visually.

That could make sense. Thanks for looking at it though regardless if you are able to help out or not. I appreciate it.

I'll tell you one thing, your teacher seems like a prick. I'm sure these problems are actually rather simple, but he words them in terminology that makes it very confusing.

Not sure who made the test, but I have an asian teacher who is poor with English. It adds on to the difficulty of the class for me ha

I'm looking at it too, MS, although I remember taking this class back in Spring of 1997 so to say that the knowledge is dusty is being very kind. Tell me, this looks like a standardized test, is there any identifying information as to the publisher and manual it was lifted from? I know a couple people in academic publishing and perhaps we could solve this problem just by having them fax/e-mail you the pertinent pages from the Professor's Edition.

Thanks Rogue. Really? I cant imagine why it would be dusty ha. No sadly I don't have a clue where the test is from. The book we are using is Introduction of the Practice of Statistics 6th edition, but the test isnt pulled from a page out of there or anything. Otherwise I could spot it . Thank you though. I appreciate you trying to help out.

Thanks Jello, I was just trying to be cheeky at first, but a number of people have been so kind as to tell me that they think it's appropriate, which I take as quite a high compliment. Thanks for adding your assent.

I've always hated statistics. Get back to gambling, son.
1. A) True
B) False, they sum to zero
C) False (should not be 'a1'^2)
D) False, because of the weird phrase at the end, sp is not defined, and DF is just = N-1. The first part of this is correct though. This is why I hate true/false.
E) True, but t* = t(0.95,N-1)
4. D
5. D (eyeballed)
6. D
7. A (though it's actually -1.73; doesn't matter though)
8. D

I planned on giving you points or something. I need to see results though before I decide what to give. You could be giving me bad info for all I know? I still appreciate the help regardless of what you said.

Stally, are you kidding me? You're gonna question a guy with mathdotcom as a username? You should be kissing his ass for giving you an A on your test that you were either too lazy, or too incompetent to do on your own.
Unreal.

That's just mathy being funny. It was funny, I thought. He's just kidding. He should have said "typical cheap Mexican American" or something like that.... it was a bit insensitive.
