A Pennsylvania Sportsbook Is Arguing my Futures Bet on Djokovic Shouldn't be Refunded

For PR reasons books will often void bets in high profile situations like this for the marketing value, but no reason they should have to.

The all bets are action argument is not persuasive here. I'd the player I not allowed to compete even though they are ready and willing, then it's Important to void the bet. If a tourney is cancelled the futures wagers should clearly be cancelled, since the player has no opportunity to compete.

If a third part intervenes to not allow a player or team to compete that should good the bet.

This is your opinion, but it's a rule you're making up in your head. When you bet on a future, you are assuming all sorts of risks which might cause your chosen horse to not participate, including government action. We just don't think about the latter because it's so rare that it's not worth thinking about. I'd wager that if you had bet a "Djokovic NOT to win Australian Open" future, your biases would be swaying your opinion in the exact opposite direction here.

If they refunded you as a courtesy, that's awesome man. Congrats on gaining an edge you shouldn't have.

No, as I said, I think all futures wagers should be refunded in this extenuating circumstance. Again, if a player is now allowed to compete, they don't voluntarily withdraw, the all bets have action clause should not apply.

You are wrong. If they refund your bet they have to cancel all the other bets on the players that are playing since their odds are not valid anymore. So if Medveveev was +400 with Djokovic playing and is now +200 with Djokovic not playing you think the book should refund your Djokovic bet and keep Medveveev +400 as was originally booked even though it is much lower now?

What if someone was about to play a match but then a person dressed as a banana smashed their skull in making that person believe he was Donny Osmond . Would you still get refunded and what if Donny Osmond Won would you still get paid or would they say Donny Osmond was not the original player and it would be a no play.
