      Kazmir to the Angels??

The Los Angeles Angels are on the verge of acquiring left-handed starter Scott Kazmir from Tampa Bay for a couple of prospects, according to sources, in a move that would solidify the weakest area of their team. The deal is expected to be announced Friday afternoon, a source with knowledge of the talks told CBSSports.com.

Would this really be a good move for the Angels? Kaz hasn't been effective at all this year.

I'm surprised the Rays are doin this only 3.5 games out of the wild card with 30+ games to play.

With their pitching, as long as they're not giving up top-end prospects it sure can't hurt the Halos Smarmy.

I'm going to merge this with ZBoiz' thread by the way.

Kazmir is no better than a 3 or 4 guy right now. The Kazmir of 2006 would have an ace anywhere. He's lost a lot..but he'll be better for the Angels that Sean O'Sullivan or Trevor Bell.

There appears to a lack of cohesive reporting on this one.

                                LA Times:

The Angels appeared to be taking a dramatic step today toward revamping their starting rotation by acquiring left-hander Scott Kazmir from the Tampa Bay Rays, but there are now indications the deal might not be imminent.

The Angels, who have yet to make any formal statement, appeared to have completed a deal for the two-time All-Star in exchange for two minor leaguers. The Times had been told an announcement was expected this afternoon.

But mlb.com now is reporting that the deal has fallen through. The website first reported the brewing trade, in a story that no longer appears to be available. The Times, SI.com and espn.com confirmed that a trade was in place.

Exactly. I believe he got injured and hasn't been the same since.

I agree, It's almost definite that rotation wouldn't scare NY,Texas or Detroit. If Boston get's in the Angels stack up pretty well against them. Outside of Beckett, who else do the red sox have?

Not washed up, but he's not going to be the stud ace that we saw when he first started out.

                                            And how do you know?

Did you know Halladay would turn out the way he would when he was sent down to A ball to regain his stuff. Because at that point, he was a bust.

Not sure how a guy can be a stud for 4 years, and then be a bum after 100 innings in year five.

                                            I'm guessing he'll be fine.

The comparison to Halladay makes no sense, as he's gotten better over time. Kazmir has put up outstanding numbers right out of the gate. I just think Kazmir's arm will be done sooner rather than later. To compensate for fatigue and avoid injury, he's going to be less effective.
