In some strange way this might actually make Urb work harder...probably can’t spend as much time at home without getting his balls broken

Marv Albert got busted for being with a hooker and having a foot fetish and people thought his career was over. He was back a year later and laughed it all off and broadcast for another 30 years. Nobody even remembered.
If he is not putting in the time, his team is going to be disorganized and the owner will get rid of him because it is not working out. Ultimately, he is going to have to pick good players and that is a lot of hard work.Comment -

#109He doesn’t really want this job. Come on. This isn’t his thing. Easy to beat up on teams when you have the best players and facilities in COLLEGE.
NFL the equalizer and about results. He’s not about this life. He was not expected to win much this year but he was expected to not be a distraction and here he is. Urban Liar- a historic fraud.Comment -

#111He probably wants the job. But he did not realize how hard it is. He's been able to cheat to get players and have assistants run the team and that does not work at the NFL level. You have to be completely dedicated. It is why a guy like Kingsbury can be successful because he always had an eye for talent and he is dedicated. He would coach for $300,000. At this point, Meyer is not interested in coaching for $300,000.
He can't do the same stuff he did before and be successful. He has to be in the middle of everything all year round and if he isn't, it will show.Comment -

#113Don't know. It all depends on how much he wants to be successful and how hard he is willing to work. There is no doubt, he is a great coach. He's an elite level coach. But being successful in the NFL is more about talent evaluation and developing players. Just being a good coach is not enough. You have to have a kind of genius. He may not have that kind of obsession, especially at this age. These guys usually get started at 40. I think 60 is a little late in the game. He's had his success.
It really just depends on how things go and how long the owner is willing to stick with it and how long Meyer is willing to go with it.Comment -

#114Nick Saban could have been a great NFL coach, but he needs that complete control. Jimmy Johnson was same. You see some of these guys like Gruden, Belicheck, Arians, Reid who just eat, sleep and shit football cerebrally, they aren’t in it to have control over people...that’s what you need in NFL. Urban seems like he’s in it for the power and control, big difference, nfl players pick up on it quick and don’t respond unless you have a very strong personality.Comment -

#116I agree. Jumping into the NFL boiler room at 60 is tough. Particularly when you have been operating at a different speed for most of your career. NFL is a 365 pressure cooker with maniacal coverage around the clock. Every decision scrutinized across all levels of the organization. You can insulate your program a bit more in the college game. Should be interesting to watch.
The reason Bill Parcells can turn around any team is because he looks at players completely differently than other people. He looks at a team and says, Ok, this guy is better than this guy and this guy is no good and the 7th round pick is better than the 2nd round pick so we are playing him. The second rounder is sitting on the bench.
That is why he makes a difference and don't think Meyer is that guy. He's not into that sort of thing.Comment -

#118That is not really the issue. It is like gambling. Winning gamblers are completely obsessed. You cannot get to that level. It is not just about being smart. It is about liking the process.

#119Nick Saban could have been a great NFL coach, but he needs that complete control. Jimmy Johnson was same. You see some of these guys like Gruden, Belicheck, Arians, Reid who just eat, sleep and shit football cerebrally, they aren’t in it to have control over people...that’s what you need in NFL. Urban seems like he’s in it for the power and control, big difference, nfl players pick up on it quick and don’t respond unless you have a very strong personality.
I don't think it is about power and control. All of those want power and control. College is a different skill. College is about recruiting. Meyer was a great college coach. He made a real difference. Mack Brown is a great college coach. He can turn around any program. He can't coach in the NFL though.
Belichek would be a terrible college coach.
Certain coaches just have an ability to evaluate players and make roster decisions that are way above the level of the typical coach. That is something totally different from college coaching.
It applies across all sports. Dusty Baker wins everywhere he goes in baseball. The stats guys don't like him. But he has got something. I don't know what it is but he is good.
It is a different ability. It's why Belichek's assistants don't work out. It does not matter whether you have worked with Belichek. The only thing that will get you Belichek is Belichek.Comment -

#121This week Jags are +4 at home against Tennessee. If they lose, Meyer is toast. Maybe even if they win. Sounds like the players hate him and now the front office does too. Home life has to be a nightmare. If he owns a gun, he just may eat a bullet.Comment -

#130I heard on a VSIN show this morning that his players laughed at him after Urban addressed the team. They said they have a source that has ties to some jags players. This source indicated that one player said Urban is full of shit and cannot be trusted.
Even the VSIN morning guys stated that everyone should load up on Titans on principle. They think urban is probably toast after next weeks game in london. Hell, if he gets fired while in the UK, he might just stay there and chase euro tail!Comment -

#135The forum loser weighs in and ruins yet another thread. I for one can think for myself, but unlike you, sources validate fact vs fiction. But this is to be expected from a fraud who constantly dismisses facts, evidence and lives in his own world.
