#37You all still seem extremely optimistic, I am not so, today proved that big money is more important than the rights a state has under our constitution. This is a scary realization that has been pointed out time and time again. I think this issue is dead now and the best to hope is a full repeal of the PASPA until maybe delaware offers two game parlays instead of 3 or more as offered in the 70's...... delaware should have realized the corporations would win and made a back room deal to offer 2 team parlays and up on all sports in exchange for no single game betting, now they are left with only NFL parlays which most likely will be restricted to 3 games or moreComment -

#38I would love to hear an attorney for the NFL explain to me how Las Vegas is bad for the league. That argument would last about a second and a half.Comment -

#39Not one person will travel to bet a 4 team parlay for $5
Parlays will be used by the locals for a while and then just fade awayComment -

#40Our country gets worse by the day... I frankly wouldn't go there often, because i love the online aspect but still it would have been a cool convince just a couple states away from me

#41Sadly JJ was right when he said there will never be any gambling on sports in Delaware. It's done. Delaware will team up with New Jersey and file a thing in court for states rights. The only problem is the supreme court is a right leaning group, so when the states lose and appeal, the court won't even hear about it, and thus for the foreseable future, sports investing will be a thing of the past. Oh well, they weren't gonna give me good juice anyway, I'll just continue to help out the netherland antilles GDP.Comment -

#42So at least Delaware didn't take this with their ass up in the air.
The professional leagues argues that Delaware didn't offer single game wagering in 1992 therefore they could not offer it in 2009.
Delaware is seeking the full circuit of appeals on the issue----and they are arguing that Nevada now has over 1300 wagers that they didn't offer in 1992---and they are operating under the same federal act.
Brian Rohms--a retired 3rd circruit judge----opined that the full court will probably rule that a reconsideration will probably occur.Comment -

#43There were many of us who knew, sadly, this would never, ever happen. Forget the law, forget the courts. The Feds were going to do whatever it took to stop this regardless of the fact they were wrong legally.
It's not surprising the appeals court vote was unanimous even though the law was on Delaware's side? The whole appeals court thing was a sham. These judges were told to end this NOW. And they did. Anyone who thinks that hearing was legitimate needs to get their head examined. It was done before it started.

#45Any retired judge will side with Delaware because they are 100 percent right. The point below is one of many they could make in their argument.
Problem is no "active" judge or judicial panel will touch this ruling because they are told "don't touch this ruling." And they won't.
The other thing is you think it was coincidence this so-called "hearing" was one week before the start of football season? It was timed to halt this right before it started so they couldn't even attempt any rebuttal.

#48Good to hear they are pushing forward I stated this in my other thread about how Vegas has expanded gambling A LOT since the ban. It is ridiculous and although I think the "fix" is in and the state won't get it until the federal ban is lifted if it ever is I am glad that Delaware is not going down without a fight as they are in the right hereComment -
