You can pick from any Hall of Fame running back or any that will be or should be in the Hall.

I think what makes a great back is the guy you give the ball to late in the game when you either pick up 2 yards or you lose.

I'm still thinking about my choice.

            Larry Csonka.
Absolutely great pick. He's not my pick but a great punishing running back.

LaDainian Tomlinson. Will be the best ever by the time he's done.

I had forgotten about Big John Riggins. He did not need any moves and didnt have any. He did however have one of the nastiest stiff arms in the history of the NFL.

Here is one of my 3 finalists:

                          Eric Dickerson

This incredible RB had blazing speed and power like few can imagine. He would fall down for more yards than good backs could gain. Just look at his 2nd year in the league and notice his incredible yards per carry average.

i disagree john, they would plug the holes and, then string him out when he tries to run outside.

Eric had 14 TDs that year averaging almost 6 yards a carry in route to well over 2000 yards rushing for the year. (Ever see an NFL RB avg 6 yards per carry? anyone?)

This horse did not need to run out side and di not try. He was an insde running back that used tremendous power with great balance and he simply could not be brought down with one guy.

My number 2 selection out of 3 is:
                                                      Earl Campell

If your life depended on you getting 2 yards this player absolutely has to be considered and even the favorite to get the ball.

Earl had a terrible offensive line to run behind but still managed a 2000 yard season in 1980 including 4 consecutive games where he gained over 150 yards. Earl was money. At 5'11" and a thundering 240 lbs Earl out ran safetys and cornerbacks in the open field. He was the fastest big man to ever hit the grid iron, but as fast as he was it was his power that was his calling card or killing card depending on if you had to try to tackle him.

                                                        Was my 2nd choice.

On 4th and 2 you would simply pitch left and the man they called Sweetness would get it done. The game has never seen a running back that had the power and speed with a center of gravity around the sock line.
