I like active posting mods, they can relate to the posters better.

      Thanks, JJ!

It was fun this weekend helping to hold the fort down here while many others were off at the bash. After having been around the block in the forum world, I can say we have a solid community here. Very little trouble to deal with at all this weekend thanks to the class everyone here shows - instead of having to put fires out, I was able to focus on a lot of good interaction among everyone.

Can't wait to see all of this continue throughout football season here - we have a lot to look forward to. So many new features, new ideas, new contributions, senior members interacting with the newbies, and everything will just keep growing stronger.

I totally agree, JJ. Reload has really impressed me this weekend. We all knew he could write solid articles and was a savvy bettor, but it's been quite some time since SBR had a Mod who posted regularly throughout the day while actually having something to say. The General posts a lot, and while I have no beef with him (he seems like a decent guy), 90% of his posts consist of nonsense, fluff, and pure equivocation.

Reload does a really pleasant job of keeping the small-talk going in SBR, resembling BigBoyDan in keeping conversations going, but without the gossip queen attitude that often ruffled feathers around the board. I love forum gossip, but we do a fine job of spreading it in the chat room without cluttering PT. In a period for SBR where the Mods are contributing less to content, I think this was a very smart hire. The cream rises to the top, and I think this is a prime example here in forumville.

            Thanks, Strait!

Andrew was indeed the one who made this awesome avatar and I have kept it ever since.

Thanks, Rogue! In my prior mod role across the street, I felt a big part of success as a mod was interacting a lot and being out in the open. Being a moderator is more than just removing spam and putting people on post review. It's a big audience with many different kinds of people and the mods have to keep things going wearing different hats depending on the topic at hand. Sometimes it obviously means not being able to please everyone all the time and I have had many battles over some dilemmas that I will always remember. But that goes along with the job for sure.

I have certainly gotten to know many mods over the years and everyone has their own style. There is really no one right way to moderate and I would say every moderator still learns new aspects of the job all the time. With the focus SBR truly has on continuous improvement, the mod staff will be no exception to that and I feel you will see an already talented team get even stronger on a regular basis.

This post is a great example of why I like your style. You responded to my post in kind, addressing the substance of my message in detail and showing a conversational style that engages other posters. Certainly I don't always agree with the decisions of the staff, but oftentimes that's inflamed by the fact that seldom are they willing to read a post and then respond to it in its entirety. If I feel like someone read and considered my thoughts, then I'm more than content to agree to disagree. This is the nature of professional interactions, and I think you're presenting an excellent face to the people in this regard and many others.

If you need backup in any forum feuds, I look forward to entering the fray on your side. And don't visit the Bay Area again without telling me, I want to buy you a drink.

Maybe we could put this as a choice in the SBR Store - use up some SBR points and get to have you avatar animated for a certain amount of time. We would have to charge a little more than a hat or a shirt for it though.

I could certainly do without the bland, EOG-style, off-topic threads like "Do you buy the Sunday paper?" Other than that, he seems alright.

I have not stayed in touch with Andrew, Strait. Would like to know what he is up to these days and have always wanted to meet him in person. Yes - lots of drama with him toward the end, and I still can't even remember all of it. But way back when he was the one who got the "Arts and Entertainment" forum going and found the smut for sure. Some of the photos he came across had me licking the computer screen, and he was a wiz with avatars as well like the one I had.

You never know what will come to mind for me, MF. Starting threads is a world of hit or miss at all times. I feel we 've got a lot of good contributors here and the bland-ness is pretty minimal. The so-called "slow season" in forumland is coming to a close and when business picks up with football, it will separate the men from the boys in the forum world. I know which one this forum is - not sure where others will end up.

Reload is a great addition here at SBR! He seems to relate better to posters than the other Mods do.

First the fantastic Points Program, now the hiring of Reload!

This place is headed in the right direction!

Reload, I must say the level of banter at SBR surpasses anything I have previously witnessed. As you may know, I am just getting acquainted with the site and have reported nothing but superlatives to the staff at Caribsports. I believe Rogue Scholar hit the proverbial nail on the head with his rather adroit and articulate remarks. You certainly do have a refreshing approach without the acerbic tongue or the cloying remarks of some other Mods at other sites. You're off to a great start and I'm sure it's just a precursor of more to come.

And I just got done exchanging messages with Carib about getting my reload in for the Carib Classic. Not only are they still offering a $25 rebate for entering, but I'm also getting a 20% Welcome Back bonus which helps a lot these days.

I try to make my posts not only substantive but crafted in my unique, flowery prose and so often I'll get just a few single sentences in response, populated with mostly monosyllabic words. To receive a compliment, and one so refined, not only warms my heart but encourages me to continue as I have. I'm in your debt for this one.

RogueScholar as Plato once said, "An intellectual judgment should not be colored by emotion." What that has to do with this discourse, I have no idea although I'm certain I could weave it into the fabric of this discussion. However, that would be transparent at best and disingenuous at worst. I cogitated over a quote that would befit a learned man, such as yourself. You can never go wrong with the ancient philosophers. To wit, your posts are thoughtful, skillfully crafted and disarmingly honest. You obviously put a great deal of care into your posts and to be met with stony silence or a vapid response is akin to serving hamburgers at the Ritz. There's nothing inherently wrong with hamburgers but they have no place at the bastion of culinary excellence. I would hope your respondents, at the very least, consider the source and attempt to put their best foot forward.
