Handicapping your Favorite or Local Team % of winning higher or lower
I generally tend to bet my local team (win or lose) about 5x my normal bet size. Thinking I have the insight to this team. However this year I am getting crushed.

Do other bet your local teams differently and with better success?

I think that if you follow your local team closely then you tend to know the ins and outs for them, thus having better knowledge of the team you should have more success capping them!

With the internet these days there is so much info available, what difference does it make who your home or local team is?

I find that betting my local team buries me.

I always bet higher on them (especially if I go to a game)

            I never bet against them.

Thus this makes me a square better.

I never bet against my favorite team. Therefore I am a square better as well!

Such is life. I do it for entertainment so I don't mind suffering a loss on a spread bet as long as my home town wins.

I did learn very quickly though that betting on Cliff Lee in Philadelphia is a free money alert.

With local teams i tend to "buy" their victory. Lets say your local team is playing. you bet 200 against them. If they win you bought there win, if they loose you feel like shit but you won mnoey.

You cant tell me none of your diehard sports fans have never said in your mind. " **** i would pay for them to win this game"

My buddy does this actually. We both always believe that betting on our team = an instant loss.

I will confirm that my friend has tested this and I thank him for it but damn it is so hard to bet on your own team even if you can psychologically realize that you win either way (be it financially or emotionally) but I personally can not bet against my own team.

You might know more about your local team but betting 5x your normal bet size is pure stupidity.
