those parlay cards that came out of the 80s and were everywhere..work..school etc

there was a old man ramp agent I knew...he worked for the now defunct Pan Am Airlines..I swear all he did all day tues-fri was pass out those cards and throw a couple pieces of luggage in between..he even had a piece of pan am equiptment..a belt loader (they are fast..driveable ramp you throw suitcases on when loading narrow body airplanes or hole 5 of wide bodies) that he would use to drive all over the airport aircraft operating area in search of players and money..I hid from Ole Hueston Bob on more than one occaison until I hade his $

Anyway I would venture into the Pan Am lockeroom ( I worked for another company) and grab a bunch of cards where ole hueston bob would leave them for people to take

like those souvenier shops that have attraction brochures ..except they were football parlay cards

then I would pass them out among friends and tell them I would give them to the bookie..well I was booking them myself and praying no mfer ever hit..sure enough some sad sack hits a 4 teamer 4 50 beans and I did not even have ten cents in my pocket..it paid 500..and I had already spent his 50 living it up all weekend..

well I trickled it back to him..but he ****ed up my gig

Well 25 years later I would hope I have matured enough to never do this again..at least today I could cover the plays..Unless some SOB hit a ten teamer for like 50 bucks-SS

Interesting, Strait. I remember parlay cards being around a lot as I grew up in northern NJ. Most people did seem to keep the action for themselves - why not with how bad the odds are against people?

A lot of them end up crumpled up for sure, Strait! Just like all the trifecta tickets at the track on the ground.

I bet you played them from 2-5 bucks didnt you? I did..

I actually was not as bad as I made myself out to be

the real bookie Ole hueston bob actually gave me his own home phone number and I could call in all the stubs without handing them in on Friday

I would call in like 20 different card stubs making it seem like I had a bunch of players when in truth they were all my plays..I always paid him sooner than later..Thus the credit

those cards and local books were just about all the gambling options we had back then..along with the occasional luck related office square..I once missed an extra point on the last play of the half that cost me a 14-14 square

2 bucks would have paid 300 bucks (x150) and rocked your freakin world back then

why hell..i think 9 out of 10 paid 50 points per dollar too..the good ole days
