    The Downside of bookie shops...
A friend of mine went into a ladbrokes shop and put 50 Euro on Burnley to beat Man Utd yesterday. Silly bet but then again it won. I rang him last night to congragulate him on his win but the problem is, he is after losing his bet slip so there is no approx 500 Euro approx winnings for him and he has also lost his initial 50 Euro stake.

He's an idiot for losing it but you can't help feel a little sorry for him. The great thing about a betting shop over an online account is once you have your bet slip, it's proof that the wager was placed and a contract if you like was entered into.

I know you have your transaction history on your online account as proof that a wager was placed but the account can be closed by the book if they wish. Deneying you access and your proof. So the BET SLIP wins in that regard.

The downside however is, at the end of the day, it's a piece of paper and it can be easily lost.

I used to do all my betting in bookie shops, still be the odd time in a shop and I have never lost a betting ticket/slip. As I said, he's an idiot for losing it but you can't help but feel at least a little bit sorry for him.

Same as me, in my wallet or on my desk in work
