MLB Is More Violent Than Ever...
I can't recall ever seeing so many hitters getting drilled intentionally, pitchers almost losing their lives to line drives and bench clearing brawls.

Those that think baseball is a non-contact sport have obviously never played the game.

      I agree SS.

I think in a way its good for the game though. It's old school in my opinion. Guys are standing up for their teammates and its eye for an eye in terms of hit batters.

True but he never really made that comparison. NHL will always be the caveman sport of the majors. MLB is for intellects pavy.

Good point Lock, Santana hit Sandoval and Molina today. Not sure if Molina was intentional, but regardless I love seeing pitchers protect their teammates.

I don't have a problem with throwing at batters (below the shoulders) to protect your hitters, but the headhunting is a little extreme.....

Its rare to find an NL pitcher with enough guts to nail someone. Its mostly AL pussycats

Watched S/C just earlier. Santana drilling down several Giants batters, b/c Cain threw one bad pitch on accident. His response was " i was just sticking up for my teammates". Dudes a real faggot and angry that Cain is 10x the pitcher he is this year

Good point Edge. I think Johan hit Molina in the elbow with a curve ball, plus Molina wears an elbow pad.

Someone is going to get seriously hurt by a beanball and only then will baseball react. I'm all for protecting your hitters but there's a lot of space on someones backside. Kinsler and Wright both got drilled. Granted those weren't "purpose pitches" (I dont think they were) but somethings gotta' be done.

Just the bats that keep splintering. The jagged edge is going to do some damage. I don't know what the answers are but baseball needs to be ready because something bad is gonna' happen.

                                                        From wikipedia:

The number of hazardous beanballs thrown during and previous to the 1950s caused Major League Baseball to require that all batters wear batting helmets, starting in 1956. The helmet with an earflap has been required since 1983, the one with earflaps covering both ears for Minor leaguers. A pitcher who is known for a habit of purposefully throwing at opposing batters' heads is called a headhunter. Some purported headhunters (whose reputations as such are not always correlated with fact, as shown by statistics) include Don Drysdale, Bob Gibson, Sal Maglie, Hugh Casey, Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Joba Chamberlain and Pedro Martínez.

If anything, baseball is less violent than it ever used to be. But watch out for Chamberlain and Pedro.

Kuroda will probably have a headache for a while. Hard to believe his skull wasn't fractured.

Great job again Nickel. I do see a trend brewing. Could baseball pitchers be going back to the old style of play? Remember what white sox coach said about being tired of his players being in danger. He even made what some would consider a threat that if another one of his batters get deliberately hit. Then they are going head hunting. He would rather be himself suspended then have a key player on the DL. Wow those are some bold words!
