On his Top 10 Internet Sports Books of 2009.
Due to the recent changes involved with online sports betting and the variety of reactions taken by many different operators to the political and legal climate, I believe it is vital to update this year's top 10 list to reflect which sports books we believe are the best ones out there for gamblers to use.
I'm going to continue doing something new for this year's top 10 list that we first implemented in January. Instead of numbering all of the books and making subjective distinctions, I am just going to offer a group of 10.
The reason I am doing it this way is it is a little silly when you are looking at the cream of the crop in our industry to say one is #4 and another book is #6. All of the books on my list are industry leaders. They all have different personalities and features. One man's #1 may be another man's #10.
Some are known for their variety of betting options, some are known for their customer service, others for their low juice. Some have better web interfaces than others. They are all strong across the board but each excels in their own niche. What they all have in common is they are, in my opinion, financially sound and you will always be treated fairly at any of them. You will never get the runaround at any of these operations.
So, here is my Top 10 list for 2009 in ALPHABETICAL order: (the reason some will have two names listed next to them is due to similar ownership or management)...
5DIMES
BET GRANDE
BETJAMAICA / OLYMPIC
BODOG
BOOKMAKER / CRIS
INTERTOPS
LEGENDZ /THE PIG
ODDSMAKER
PINNACLE
WSEX / MATCHBOOK
To conclude, 2009 should be the year gamblers flock to safety, rather than risk getting hoodwinked by ridiculous bonuses or perks offered by unscrupulous operators. Furthermore, I also don't recommend sending money to any publicly traded company that still offers wagering to American citizens.
If you stick with any of these sports books over the course of this year, I feel very confident that your money is safe and that your experience will be a pleasant one.
