I'm an old-time Vegas casino and sportsbook troller, but I took a break from the scene for over a decade and recently returned (not to Vegas, but to sports gambling). Obviously, I'm relatively new here, but I've never been one to care about my post count on any forum. What I enjoy about this forum is all the vets who know their shit about gambling and offer insights that help me from breaking my bank.

But if you look at the forums here, the one that is most full of shit is the "Players Talk" forum. This is where the newbies have their worst impact and if you hang out here all day long you will go insane. I only come here once in a while to post a few comments relevant to my experience or my sense of humor (which is dark and deviant, yet humane).

I hang out in the baseball and basketball capping forums and lately the NFL capping forum. There are almost as many dumbasses in those forums as there are here, but not quite, and at least they tend to focus on the gambling aspect of a particular sport and not their post counts. Oh, there's plenty of pissing matches there, but that's only natural and it adds to the energy of the threads.

As a free, public forum, SBR really can't control the knuckle-dragging basement dwellers that wander into our domain (ha, been here 3 months and I already call it "our" domain). And if the ignorant newbies happen to wander in around the time that SBR launches a promotion for post quantities, then all hell is bound to break loose. Moronic threads and vapid posts are going to run rampant from both newbie dorks and veteran dorks.

I've been on other forums where this phenomenon has happened, and what typically follows is a gradual exodus of the worst forum members, who usually have very short attention spans and are easily distracted by the first shiny trinket that appears in their peripheral vision. And off they go, back into their basements or their mother's laps or their ***-stained computer chairs, seeking the next thrill and forgetting they were ever here.

So be patient. It's all a phase. Growing pains. A wincing pain that will either fade away or you will grow accustomed to. Find the places here where you become less agitated and more engaged, post some good shit and respond to others who do likewise (and simply ignore the moronic posts that create space between them). That's all you can really do, unless you can find a better home. Good luck with that, because there are few homes that have not been invaded by outsiders who continuously produce the same pain you suffer here.

So say someone has a LEGIT dispute about a book they post a thread 2 hours later its not there and people cant find it , therefore someone else may get the shaft from that book.

Points at the same time added to it but SBRforum has grown over 100% every football season. Every summer we add something new, whether it's a big contest or feature, and every year there are posts about preferring how it was before. Everything eventually settles in with the poster requests and feedback and we add quality posters.

Below is what I said about points on day 1... We already have filters that will likely be in place tomorrow. We'll look at character counts, adding point balance once per day and max out daily points. Points will be alright. No one is going to be paid to chat and we'll be able to give away a lot of points for good stuff. Points will be a way for guys to pick what they want for prizes when they win contest and beat others for their prizes.

We haven't set the forum plan in stone for the next two years. We can't do what everyone suggests but always have taken feedback and are listening. I've asked guys not to get too worried about what happens in this first 20 hours. We're having fun with something new. SBRpoints are here to stay but we can allocate them different ways to reward good contributions and maintain the board those posters invest in.
The key to success is being able to change without changing. The initial idea started was awarding guys who were blogging and adding good material to our community. We wanted to include those who are helping others with sportsbook info and Think Tank questions. We thought adding the ability to bet and win points to our contests would be fun.
Guys will see when the store is live that this is a rewards program, something fun, but it won't make sense to try to be a paid poster. There will be lots of ways to significantly build up your points. Posting fast won't be one.

So when the new filters are installed the points accumulated so far should be diluted by reducing their value to 10% of what they are now to account for the shenanigans that happened the last two days.
