Not sure if it's any more dangerous than other lakes, but there have been high profile drownings at that lake. I think one recently where the mom put her little son on the boat then went under never to be seen again.

It's the bermuda triangle of lakes, sort of.

Grew up going to lake Piru and Piru gun club. Don’t ever remember it being any more dangerous than any of the other local lakes.
