I hope not. Hopefully they will view this as an opportunity.

Times are only going to get tougher for the remaining books that still take U.S. players action. I think it's all going to come down to finding a "safe zone" to keep themselves safe from the feds.

If anything, this will open up the eyes of other books, and hopefully they make things safer for US and all other players. If its possible.

My hope is that this will open the eyes of other price-concious sports bettors, helping to create critical mass at the US-friendly sports exchanges.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the exchange is the future of sportsbetting. With any luck, the departure of Pinnacle from the US market will only serve to hasten its arrival.

Good points Ganche and it might force us to like exchanges although they will only work if that is the only way to bet on a game because if other options are available the will fail miserably like they have already. Only in Europe are exchanges the real deal.

If you think online gambling will be over in U.S in the near future, you must be crazy. It will ever be over as long as there's a strong demand for it, it might not be as good as before, but it will be there. You just need guts if you want to play.

Business are here because of only one reason, PROFIT, the higher the risk, the better profit it will be. Even if the government fine and jail local bookies, but there are still tons of them out there, why? RISK REWARDS PROFIT, it's simple, people are willing to take higher risk to seek better profit, it's also common supply and demand sense if you look at it that way.

Same for any governments, whatever they do, in the end, it's all have a tight link for PROFIT.

Granch I've never used an exchange help me understand. If I'm correct an exchange is where players play against other players and the house rakes a percentage if this is the case I cant see where the new law would allow the US Marshals to shut down a middle man. If this is the case EBAY would be operating illegaly as well. What are some good exchanges you could be right this might be the future.

The granddaddy of exchanges is certainly A+ rated Betfair, which unfortunately does not accept US players.

As far as exchanges that do accept US players, you might want to take a look at Matchbook, Mansion, and Tradesports.

This is an industry that has always been illegal, since 1961 anyway, and always thrived none the less.

Mudcat posted this a while back about Mansion. While specific commission plans vary, the general idea is the same at all the exchanges.
