    Any good ones out there?

Covers use to have the degenerate gambler which was pretty entertaining but I haven't seen it in a long time. I tried to look up the author too and no dice.

Not to toot my own horn but I do a "almost" daily sports betting blog. I think a few familiar faces here at SBR can vouch for me.

The blog can be found at www.sportsbettingforaliving.com

It's basically just my day to day story of having moved from Michigan to Las Vegas to bet on sports full time.

I actually arrived in Vegas one year ago yesterday. There were some ups and downs the first year but things overall went really well.

I am VERY excitied about year #2, especially with having a full years worth of expierence now under my belt.

I have been really slacking off with writing the blog lately because of the slow summer peroid sports betting wise but I am looking forward to starting back up writing everday very soon.

    Hope you enjoy it

Thanks for the link. I just saw this story on how Las Vegas is turning into a ghost town with all the foreclosures and declining tourism. If you've been able to survive a whole year, then you must be doing something right. I don't think I could live in Las Vegas. I hate hot weather.

You won't find many others who disliked the heat more then I did before I got here but honestly (I can't believe I am saying this, LOL) it really isn't that bad, espcially when you consider the trade off of the other 9 months out of the year.

I enjoyed some of the most beautiful days in my life weather wise this past year and that was during the WINTER!!! Sunny, no breeze, bright blue skies, not a lcoud in sight, 65-70 degrees, no humidity at all.

I would call back home to talk to my parents and they would be digging out of snowstroms, complaing the whole time, while I would walking my dogs wearing shorts, in the morning.

As for the foreclosures, you are right on but there are some really great deals out here. You really get a lot of house for your money.

I also live in Summerlin, which is about as far away from the hustle and bustle of Vegas as one can get and still be only 20 minutes away. If it wasn't for the lights coming from the strip, you wouldn't even know you were living near Las Vegas.

With all that said we don't plan on staying here more then one more year. I have found I can do what I need to do from just about anywhere in the U.S now.

Not that we don't like it here, we just don't love it and as soon as we have children we don't want to raise them in a big city or in Las Vegas.

I will tell you one thing though because of Las Vegas and it's nice weather, I don't think we will ever go back to living in a cold climate again.

Good stuff Iceman. I will be looking forward to your "almost daily" blogs lol. I have a friend that lives past hualapai in summerlin. I'm surprised you haven't done any other gambling besides sports betting.... no cards no dice no slots. Makes sense though, If I could cut out dice/slots would definetly be a +.

I live right around that area.

My orginal plan was to do some stuff on the side like play video poker or maybe blackjack, poker, etc but I never got into it. I would have liked for someone to have shown me the ropes and maybe taught me the correct way with some of that stuff but I didn't want to bother anyone so I just left it alone as I knew I had no edge playing that stuff.

Like I said in my blog I haven't stopped once and put a single coin in a slot machine since we moved out here or went up and played some blackjack, routlette, craps, etc, nothing at all.

I know pretty boring on my part, LOL but honestly none of that stuff really interests me. I also don't care about being in casinos if I don't have too either.

One thing I have learned about myself through the years is I am the type of person with an all or nothing type personaility, I usually love something or hate it and I love sports betting, pretty much everything about it (except the losing, LOL).

I put 110% into this everyday so I don't really have the time or the energy to do other "gambling" type things. Plus I don't think I am smart enough to do too many things at once and do them well. Sad but true.

Nope. Seems to be a lot of Iceman's in the forum world.

Posted mainly (and was a modeator for a year) at the RX.

I don't like to play table games, it is more of just killing time waiting around for seat at a poker game or something. I wish I had control to not touch them.

In your Best Stretch entry you said something about pinny leans. Is that like following the steam at pinny before the other books move?

                            You got it PJ.

I have this problem and it's the same thing when writing in threads, I post too much, I can't do things short and sweet when it comes to writing, LOL.

It started to at times almost feel like a job and I was getting tired just thinking about doing it. I'm really going to concetrate on knocking things down a notch or two.

                            That's the goal going forward.

Either way thanks a lot PJ, should be a nice boost after things have been slowing down a bit.

I am so excited about year 2 of all of this and I look forward to sharing all of it. I am so much further ahead of this time one year ago. It should be a fun time.

Pinny lean is just that, your basically using Pinny as a guideline and more or less going to slower books and playing the off lines there at those places.

That was pretty much my gameplan when I got here in LV after two years of doing it successfully online liviing in Michigan. After a few weeks in Vegas as a one man crew, I gave that method up and went to just doing all my own work.

No doubt in my mind, the MB lean would a better indicator NOWADAYS to use.

                                      I might do that.

I don't know many people here but I went to the first get together/dinner last year and got a chance to met a few good guys like Justin and Ganchrow. It was fun as we had a nice solid group talking just about anyting and everything.

The thing I remember the most about the night was the small argument (call it a disagreement) between Fezzik and Justin about the best way to play Monopoly, LOL.

I just sat back and listened as I never thought anyone would have put that much thought into playing Monopoly "the correct way". I hadn't probably played since I was 14 but it was was obvious these guys had thoughts and opinions on how to play +ev Monopoly, LOL.

I had a great time and it was a real fun evening!!!

                                          Ice thank for your blog,
i have only been able to scan a few things,i am hoping to soon have more time and read most if not all of it.
Your march 3/3/9 entry i think is most important one, when you point out that coming to Vegas specifically to bet is pointless because weather you are chasing after a better number and/or trying to spread a big bet the time it would take you to do it drastically cut down on your handicapping time .
I would have never thought that to be the case since they all seems to be 1 next to the other, however if one is going to place a bet one must go to the independent books where if you strictly bet and walk out,you won't end up being harass by some little dickhead pit boss. However these books are spread out all the over town and surprise surprise only Southpoint is open all night and the others for most part OPEN around 7.30/8amP on football Sunday
Looking at the map ICEMAN i see what you mean and what i would be up against especially. on football Sunday trying to 1st go to the lucky's dtwn, than in the same area either one of the cal neva group (BINION'S,4Queen)or Tuscany on the strip than the Vegas Hilton and near buy Leroys, with the last stop being all the way down at southpoint witch by the way will take anything if Bert Osborn is still there.Winn use to be on the list but Chuck Simms said that winn is a waste of time now and he recommended M resort and sportsbook further down after southpoint.
IMO if you can open accounts at MATCHBOOK,BETFAIR,PINNACLES,BOOKMAKER(ph one account) along with The Greek and Betsson(added to the list for the NHL)you will be doing very well without all the running around you will be subjected too in Vegas.
However if you are single and want to remain single and still end up gettin' sum without having to put up with a nagging cunt vegas as the best "ranches" and escort service in the world.
