Former college bookie story

Any former bookies in here willing to tell a story about how you became filthy rich or got run out of business? I'm just curious because I use to book bets a long time ago and it was the craziest few years of my life. I had just been accepted into college and had been betting for years and wasn't doing so hot. I decided to be a book and it was hard to get clients right away. Once I did it became like a full time job for me. I was working at the local grocery store getting minimum wage and decided that booking bets was going to pay much better. So I quit bagging groceries and starting taking BIG bets. I was worried at first because I only had saved up about $1500. I was the bookmaker around the college and I was taking bets from at least 75 kids. They were all excited to take my money but they were just squares and a few sharps mixed in the bunch. I payed off college in the first football season and never looked back. I was becoming so rich at the moment and decided to tell some friends about it so we could allow bigger bets with our combined bankrolls. I tell you those years were the best and we made enough money to buy whatever we wanted. Please share your experiences if you have any like mine.

I wasn't into active betting at that age, but I do recall that there was a scandal at Columbia Law School I think, involving a bunch of law students who had a big ring going, and got busted. I don't recall any details.

How much did you make per month or year booking at your college? Why did you ultimately stop? Did you ever get busted? Were there ever any serious problems associated with it?
