The Packers concept falls between alot of unortodox cracks.Back when the packing company and Curley Lambeau founded them, players played for free.So the team becomes a community city owned team.I think back then fans used to buy wortless shares like they do now that are just contributions. So the town is in on the ground floor of the NFL for free. They collect gigantic tv rights, merchandising rights and all that stuff where they are flush with money. So the players strart making mega salaries in the last 20 years and the team feels they have to stay with the times turning the stadium into a show piece. So I live near Superior,Wisconsin around 300 miles north of Green Bay.I have to pay a tax when I go over there to eat at a ** Donald's that goes to paying the Packer organization. That sucks man! What I'm getting at is that at first the whole concept was ok when they ran the team like a business and just were self sufficient. Now they have become a parasite!

I used to go to alot of games there because I have relatives there who get tickets. It was really fun.I had alot of great memories going to watch training camp in the 60's when all their stars were there.

Now that they have become beggars where they force you to volunteer to pay their bills,I have become an anti fan and root for them to lose games.

I'd have the Steelers and Packers pretty close to even.....Steelers 6 Super Bowl Championships are the most in NFL history while the Packers have 9 NFL Championships with 3 Superbowl Championships.

Winning championships alone does not make for the best franchise.

                        Everything considered, GREEN BAY PACKERS.

Hold on let me reconsider everything.....ok I'm done, the New York Yankees are still the greatest USA sports franchise of all-time, not even close. Make an argument that the Packers are better cause I need a good laugh.

You might want to list your criteria.

Green Bay is a great franchise and has a unique situation where the public owns the team. There is only around 1/4 million people in the Green Bay area which always sells out their games. I have heard the 1st thing you do when your child is born is put them on the season tickets waiting list so they might have a chance to get season tickets when they are middle aged. They have a great history and if not publically owned, they would of moved many years ago.

                                      WHAT?

The Packers ahead of the Yankees?

                                      Are you clinically insane?

Set aside the championships for a second and just think of the lore of the players that have played for the Yankees.

For cripes sake, they have 44 players in the Hall of Fame. 44.

                                      Ruth
                                      DiMaggio
                                      Mickey Mantle
                                      Lou Gehrig
                                      Reggie Jackson
                                      Whitey Ford
                                      Yogi
                                      Roger Maris
                                      Casey Stengel

The list is endless...what does the Pack have? They have a coach in Lombardi, and maybe Bart Starr. Ask the average football fan to name you 5 famous Packers and they get stuck after Starr and Bret Favre.

The Pack flies in the midwest, but they don't draw the emotion, history, winning, players that the Yankees have.

Hell, when it comes to Football, I wouldn't even put the Packers among the top 5 franchises. That list would begin with the Bears and Papa Halas, the Steelers and the Rooney family, Paul Brown and his Bengals, the Cowboys and how they dominated the popularity/fans.

What criteria would you use to place the Packers above the Yankees? and better, what criteria would you use to place the Packers ahead of the Bears, Steelers, Cowboys?

General where would you have East Carolina ranked?

                                                  So far you got the:
                                                  Red Wings
                                                  Cowboys
                                                  Notre Dame
I'd guess you put the Montreal Expos next
                                                  The the East Carolina Pirates?
