I'm curious. When your losing despite doing all the work that's needed, do you step back and sit out for a few days? Do you lower the amount of your bets? What seems to work?

If you're a winning bettor, then try to ignore the slump as much as possible. The less you think about it, the better off you will be. Just continue along and forget about it.
If you're a losing bettor, just take some time off until gambling is fun again. Maybe analyze your strategy.

I would just reduce the wager amount and keep playing as usual other than that.

when you bet $5 a game, you tend to win everything. so i guess you should bet less for a while.

Bet both sides to a game so you cash a ticket. I have done that a lot through my career.
Here is a slump

What's with that...betting small you win...more often than not betting large you lose...is it a change in bet strategy when betting in different amounts or is it just murphy's law...I often think about this without ever being able to identify why it is

Pull like hell against the team you are betting on. The more I pull for a team the more they suck, so I pretend like I bet on the other team, as soon the other team scores I run around the house yelling this is a fking lock it is over, bout time I won a bet.....reverse psychology, works every time.

NEVER CHASE!
I really only play college football. The NFL is just too crazy for my tastes. I will also try college hoops from time/time.
Anyway. I create my own set of numbers in July. Adjust week-to-week, and only play 7 games per week.
I follow simple advice.
Determine my bankroll for the year.
Never chase.
Don't bet on teams I cheer for.
If I lose--and it happens A LOT---I cut back and try to figure out why I lost. Was it weather? injuries I didn't account for? backdoor cover? Did I bet on a losing coach/program?

Change my routine around, from brushing my teeth righthanded to driving a different route to work to pinching my wife's right cheek instead of the left one, plus make a small bet on some game that makes no sense at all.

stop but write down games you would have bet on and your choices. when you see your starting to get into a groove start playing again. slumps are part of it.

What I do is not anaylize the game at all. I just pick who I think is better and play it.
This seems to help. Once your on a losing streak its hard to get off it, cause you are over anyalizing and playing with scared money. Its best to sit back just pick the better team.
Prime example is Floriday today, great play little juice. Yet people second guess themselves by sayin wait Nationals are hot there on a run. Ok so what they have not won five in a row all year so why should they today. Easy money if you didn't over anaylize the game.
