#7They mean nothing, the one I tend to use is VCP, vintagecardpricing.com but it is good for high grade prewar,, if you have something less than a few grand, don't bother, just use ebay as your guideהמוסד

#8Mcgwire rookie card was 85 Topps. In 98 the card was worth $100.00 bucks. Today it it worth $5-10 bucks. I was a big time card collector, but nowadays there are too many card companies out there and the whole grading of cards turns me off. I won't touch anything after 1987.Comment -

#9Beckett is pretty much useless for cards. You will only be able to sell your cards for the prices listed in Beckett if you have high end cards, or some rookie cards, when they first come out. I seen cards listed for $50 in Beckett, sell for $5 on ebay. Market is tough for cards, the graded cards do better.Comment -

#11given the topic, years ago when i shattered my leg during the summer i organized all the cards that were given to me alphabetically by team then by year and such and ive always wanted to go through and price em all out, theyre a ton of sick cards from 1958-1980s, got a 1958 roger maris RC when hes on the indians but it isnt in perfect condition, plus i got like 4 1963 pete rose rookie cards, frank/brooks robinson, a clemente, bunch of koufaxs. im never gonna sell em but always wondered what this collection costsComment -

#12I had a closet full of baseball cards (like a 6 foot pile of the monster boxes) of late 1980s and early 1990s... Most of the good stuff had been pulled out and sold a long time ago and I got tired of losing the space and hauling them around everytime I moved so I decided to go through them... After about an hour of pulling out all crap that was worth like $1-5 (according to the price guide which means they are prety much worthless) and not making much a dent in the pile I decided it was a huge waste of time as I would be lucky to get like $50 on ebay for lot when I finished... I tried to call around and give the crap away (goodwill, baseball card shops, etc) but no would touch the shit.. and just said **** it and dumped the load in a dumpster... I can't believe I hung on to that all those boxes for like 15 years (and moved them like 4 times)...Comment -

I hear you man. When they started doing inserts all the regular cards became useless. The whole card market was like a great pyramid scheme. People were buying 100 card lots of Gregg Jefferies for ****s sake. It was like gambling for kids.
Do have a nice '80 Rickey Henderson that is probably climbing in value right now.
Remember How big McGwire's cards were when he had that great rookie season?bird bird da bird's da wordComment -

#16You had to be in on it early. If you sold your shit in the late 80's instead of buying you did great. But if you jumped on the bandwagon at that time you got screwed.bird bird da bird's da wordComment
