I can get you a nice Jr 1bd for $750 a month (All utilities paid including internet) and about 1 block away from a nice sportsbook, and 4 blocks from the Strip. Its in a safe apartment complex, and I work for this company (Im the director of security for this firm, they own 13 complexes in Vegas)

iceman- thats the plan. i used to read you at therx all the time. if i do decide to go through with this, i will defenitely look to pick your brain just a little.

payinghthejuice- is that a good price? is there anything cheaper? i really just need the bare minimum. good internet, good tv. i will be working my ass off. coming from NY though, 750 doesnt sound so high. i just have no clue what the standards are. would it be a problem just looking to rent it for 4 or 5 months?

also, would i need a car? how eay is it getting around vegas? thanks for the help.

The place has everything. TV, bed, chairs, fridge, etc ... you just need to bring your sheet, pillow and blanket lol. They have 99 channel cable. And you can get in with no lease, and you are able to leave at any time.

Wont need a car, the Sportsbook is a block away, and the Strip is 4 blocks away. You can even take the bus, which would be a short 3 minutes ride. Hell, I live in the same complex (in a 2 bedroom just because I get free rent lmao) I walk most of the time to the sportsbook, but if I am lazy I will drive. Hell, if you need a ride anywhere important, let me know lol.

For 4-5 months it will be cheaper to stay at a weekly rate hotel.

Waking up covered in roaches, surrounded by crackheads and homeless, propositioned by hookers daily, being threatened and robbed by pimps/druggies/felons, having your apartment robbed once a week . . .

If you want to save a couple of dollars, the excitement is definately worth it. There is a reason that insurance companies would sell RENTERS INSURANCE when you stay in a place like that lol

You just need a place to sleep every couple days. I'm assuming bubba will be working hard all week betting games, poker, slots so it will be better not to have a good place to look forward to go back so he can maximize his profits at the sportsbook and the casino. The less time he spends at his place the more money he will make gambling.

I did the same thing for 7 yrs. Spent Sep-Jan there. Always rented an apt.! The deal "Paythejuice" outlined is a good one. $750 is just a tad hi, but w/all the amenities it's pretty good. Not having to sign a lease is huge. And you can NEVER put a premium on security. Does it also have a pool? DON'T stay in one of those $109 a wk places. Plus you will like having a nice place to come home to and relax. Believe me you can't be at the Casinos 16 hrs a day, you will get worn out. BOL

                          Yep, 2 pools lol.

Also right next door is Pizza, Chinese, Jack in the Box, Buffet, and Target + Grocery store is a 5min walk. Also have a convience store right across the street (liqour, beer, cigs, etc)

Monthly condo rentals around Sam's Town on Boulder Highway is the way to go... No car is needed, just mins away from downtown by taxi and walking distance to Sam's & Boulder Station.

I've checked out the weekly rentals. Not cheaper (usually at least 169+tax a week) and definitely scummy. Don't do it.

Yes, you'll want a car. I used public transpo in Vegas for two days once. Sucked completely. And it's useless for shopping for lines. Only place you can shop for lines on foot is downtown, where you can hit about 6 books. Las Vegas isn't NY, where you don't want a car. Las Vegas is a collection of strip malls.

With a car, you can live in more civilized communities, and save some on rent, as well. Decent monthly furnished will be 650-800, so payingthejuice's deal is fair, and assuming he's talking about being near the Hilton, that's a good book to use as your shopping base.

Ice, good to see you here. If I end up coming out to Vegas this fall, I'll PM you. I still check your blog, but you've been getting lazy, my friend. Football should get you writing again, I imagine.

Just got an itouch, btw. Monstrously cool. I can shop numbers and make bets while playing live poker now, which is a dream. Being able to watch for line moves while at the table? Perfect. Was in Vegas a few weeks ago and made a bet at 5Dimes while playing cards at the Venetian. Two birds. One stone.

And it fits in your pocket and has a great looking screen. This makes me think Vegas live betting might pick up in value.

That is pretty good deal, heck you do not even need to make a ton of money to afford that.

Bubba, no book will ever pass on the opportunity to book the Vegas end of the degen pool.
