Damn....Have to buy a new car.
So I'm driving yesterday and everything is good. I go to make a right turn and I hit the brakes to slow down and my brake hits the floor.......FUKK.

Luckily, I still had front brakes, but the back brake lines broke and there was fluid dripping from the car. I didn't get into an accident and I'm OK, but it's not worth it to fix the car, the car has had many problems in the past, so better off getting a new car or at least a better one.

This old car is a 98 Buick.....69,000 on it, needs new brake lines, 4 new tires and maybe more. A little rust on the side. I'm not selling it, just letting you know.

I'm going to a place today looking for a used car. Based on website, I'm looking at $7,000 to $9,000 car, money I DON'T HAVE.

I have about 3500 in books right now and may need to take a break so I can get my new car.

If I get one today or in the next few weeks, I shall have some pictures.

Here is something more in your price range:

Dual power steering, manual brakes. Only yearly tuneup required.

Pros: no fluids required, air typically free at gas stations
Cons: Swass, chaffing balls, mockery from friends. May die while driving in winter.

you have an 11 year old car with only 69,000 miles on it. Why do you need a new(ish) car again? Just replace the brakes and tires

Up here, an 11 year old car is an agonizing POS regardless of mileage. Winter is brutal on a car.

Get a 3-5 year old Japanese econobox of some kind. Won't cost 7k.

Cash for Clunkers will give you $4500 free money towards the purchase of a new vehicle. You can buy a new KIA for $6,000.

Yea, I know the 4500 rebate Pavy, but I don't think I'm getting a NEW car, looking for USED but not too USED. Looking for around 2004-2007 car, not American like the Buick

I leave around 230 for my hunt, shouldn't take long if I like what I see at a place I'm going to.

Yes but you can buy the new car so you can take advantage of the $4500 rebate since your trade-in has no value...then sell it after a couple months and buy your dream 2004-2007 used car.

                    dude!

get the kia or similar BRAND NEW.. and you can finance it and keep a few bucks in your pocket.. If I had a clunker (2005 ford f-150 lariat), i would get a brand new car like that and sell it for a profit.. or use it if I needed to..

besides.. you are young.. you don't need a big car/truck.. no kids/wife/etc.. your bud fits fine in the passenger seat..

He is in college. Tough to find parking with a big truck or SUV. You need an SUV after college but in college is too big of a car and a gas guzzler.

Fix the Buick! Winter in the Northeast is in no way any worse on a vehicle than the coaster cancer of living within spitting distance of the Pacific Ocean. Take a week before college and just get the car tip-top. Brake lines are easy to replace, and you'll learn so valuable skills in the process. The best car I ever owned was a Buick and I'd be happy to help you get through any maintenance procedure, I have performed them ALL.

The only reason why I'm getting a new car is b/c this one keeps having problems. Fine, get new tires, that happens, and fix the brake lines, but then 6 months later, another problem will pop up and it's not worth it to keep getting it fixed.

As far as trade in value, we're looking at $1200-$1700, not too bad.

I'm not a car guy at all, but will say, there is a 0% chance of me being a big car or truck, not my style.

This is how I will pick out my car....

                              1. It looks nice....not girly nice, but I like the car....all people do this
                              2. It's afordable
                              3. I test drive and like how it runs
                              4. My parents OK the car and willing to pay for it.....which of course I will pay back

some side notes, good on gas, and other just maintainence stuff.

As far as kind of car, Buick, ford, honda, etc, etc.....I prefer non-American, but will see what happens

I don't think he's grasping the concept. Plus there are certain regulations on the 4500 rebate (not sure on the specifics, but I doubt a '98 buick will fit)

Sorry, but unless the Buick has been in a wreck or flooded out, something like that, I simply cannot understand how a vehicle with 69K on the odometer is constantly breaking down...unless someone has neglected the easy regular maintenance.

Buick break pads last 200,000 miles especially when an 18 year old uses them like he is Vin Diesel in Fast and the Furious.

Just bought 2005 honda accord. 69000 miles on it but better car than buick

$10,500. I have maybe 3,000 for money. My parents are paying and im paying them back.

                                                    Pictures later.... I think

I drive a bmw and id say buy the same... but the problem is the maintence is expensive and the actually car will be a little pricey but on the flip side itll run for 200,000+ miles, is amazing in the snow (if you buy an xi) and the handling is unreal. You can prob find an 02-03 with 65k miles for like 9gs
