I like to bet 5% on the ones that’ll lose and I’ll go as high as 7-10% on the ones that’ll win. Why not just do 0% on the losers, you ask? Because doing it that way will get your account banned.
What is the optimal % of your bankroll for each play?

#73This may give you a better understanding of Kelly.Originally posted by RudyRuetiggerI believe about 50 or so guys go read the basics in the think tank
Then come over here and act like they know things
Last time in one of these threads, I showed why a beginner should NOT be depositing $100 into 5 books to get the best lines but instead deposit all $500 into 1 book
This is very similar. You do NOT deposit your full bankroll (unless your full bankroll is the max signup bonus amount) and you do not bet 1-3% but you MOST DEFINITELY do not follow any kind of half kelly, quarter kelly or any kellys ........other than bundy or kapowski.

#83personally i bet 0.33% (1/3 of 1 unit) some times less, of total bankroll per play ,my bottom line or ultimate goal is to obtain a return of 4-10% on my bottom line, total money laid in that year, which suits me fine looking at it from a investment stand point it is just a vehicle to achieve a goal. Their are to many variables and questions. but here are few examples that are every week occurrences for real world situations that might make one think different.
-all bets are created equal no matter how big the perceived edge
-25 wagers going off in one sports today despite having diversity dogs, favs ,totals
-the ever changing bankroll adjustment
-the loosing streak from hell
-the 6 week winning streak (ahhh invincible you say)
ect ect you get the idea
so many variables to the rules can make ones head spin, but if you know you know how many of this and that then the pot of creativity can be stirred to make some kick ass chilliComment -

Works extremely well for me to make a decent profit every month. Obviously, you need to do your homework and identify value before placing bets.Comment -

#85I put aside $2k for bankroll, which is about 5% of all my savings/investments. Of that bankroll, I bet 1-3 percent and adjust every $500 (not daily or weekly). Some bets get less like half a percent but I very rarely go over three percent, if ever. I am smalltime and don't mind betting $20 a game.Comment -

#87It depends on your bankroll. If your bankroll is short, you can start with %5. As your bankroll grows, you better reduce the %. There was a post I had wrote in the past, check out.

#92This is actually an interesting take but I've had over $2k sitting in my account for 5+ years. Even at an excellent rate of 3% interest, I've only missed out on $300. I've used that money to make more in that time but you're definitely right on everything.Originally posted by RudyRuetiggerfukk it

jj wrong again
im sick of guys TOUTING to deposit bankroll and then bet 1-5% of bankroll
WORST STRATEGY
who is collecting interest on that money?
who can use that money?
who loses that money if books go broke?
TRUST ME, when you deposit and lose $50 as an all in play, books will offer the same fukkin reload bonus to you as if you deposited 10k and lost $50
big difference men
BET 100% of your offshore roll, but deposit 1-5% of your rollComment -

#95The "optimal" bet size varies per bet as different bets offer different perceived edges.Originally posted by RunebladeI started at 5% but realize now that after this terrible loosing streak, that I need to take a step back and reajust. Any tips?
I wouldn't worry about "optimizing" bet size at this point and risk no more than 1% of your roll while trading your equity curve; as the roll increases/decreases, your bet size follows suit.Comment
