So you're laying that huge number? All I am saying is I wouldn't lay -315 with Pettite pitching. I wouldn't lay -315 in MLB, period, especially backing some mediocre pitcher.

You're correct. He's not.

You are paying for the fact that books always charge a premium for betting on public teams. And the Yankees are the most pubic of public teams. You are also paying a premium for the fact that the Yankees have been red hot since the All Star break. And lastly, you're paying a premium for the fact that the oppositon is terrible.

So, when you add all those together, you get -315.

Agreed. Against most teams, I'd agree that -315 is an awful price. Against Oakland and IN New York, yeah, that's about right.
