#41Its the cards pitching that will lose it for them....buncha bats but they better keep up...Originally posted by 2daBankWhat can I say, great day for cards. We win, Brewers lose, cubs about to lose, and you picked cubs to win division. I honestly didn’t have much hope for this season until just now!!!
I know our offense has stunk but can goldsmidt have really fallen this far this fast? He not close to old yet! Surely he gonna have a better second half? He gets back to the .900 ops guy he been the last 5 years, Ozuna comes back from injury, one of our young hitters gets hot (O’Neal has been tearing it up all a sudden), they don’t have to be great offensively, the starting pitching has been really good after the terrible 1st month. The bullpen has been great, losing hicks hurts but Martinez will be fine as closer and they got several other good arms in the pen. There a lot of pitching on the market, wouldn’t surprise me if they added there. Bat might be better but not many impact bats available.
I wouldn’t count out the reds either, I made a few small future plays on them over the asb, while you making excuses for cubs if it wasn’t for reds poor start they would be leading the division.
Unless cubs find a way to win some road games where they been awful they gonna get passed by someone who plays consistent ball in 2nd half.Comment -

#52ouchOriginally posted by thomorinoI'm on the Cubs to win the division at +135. The Cubs should be in first place by a significant margin but their bullpen was garbage early in the year so their run differential didn't matter since they kept losing close games. The Cubs bullpen is better with Kimbrel and every other team in the division has significant flaws. Milwaukee's pitching is bad and Yelich is the only consistent hitter for average, Cardinals offense has been bad, Reds offense is inconsistent, and Pirates pitching is inconsistent. The Cubs starting rotation of Quintana, Hendriks, Lester, Darvish has looked better recently, and Hamels is the best in this division by far. Cubs offense is as good as any offense in the division as well.Comment -

#70Cardinals lost their closer months before cubs did.
Cubs did have lot of injuries but they also added help at trade deadline which cards didn’t.
Cubs weren’t winning regardless, they been on a downhill trajectory ever since winning the ws. This group didn’t have the intestinal fortitude it takes to be multiple time winners, they partied and got complacent. Stopped listening to coach, he been a lame duck since before you made the play.,
All that said so what? When you take plus money futures you bound to lose some of them. Dunno why ppl giving you such a hard time about it like they never lose!!!Comment
