Anyone else really think USA is top 5?

General, a little bias for USA, but also the way they played in Confederation Cup, you have to put them up there w/ the best.

It all depends on the draw. In 06 we were in the GROUP OF DEATH....Ghana, Italy, Chech...that was crazy, we need a better draw in this one

Argentina hasn't reached the semifinals since 1990. And they always suck when the WC is not played in the Western Hemisphere.

Yes, but it's very difficult to win two tournaments in a row. Everything will have to go right twice.

Because they are the current Euro champions. Also the time zone and climate favors European teams because it is identical to Europe.

It will be winter in South-Africa, and the field could be hard for the evening games. I need to see the general quality of the pitch first to know more. If the field is bad and the ball bounces all over the place that doesn't favor a one-touch team like Holland.

Pavy the Climate doesnt actually favors them , it actually favors Argentina as both countries are in the Southern Hemisphere , if you are going by the Euro then Greece should've been Contenders in 06 but didn't even qualify , a lot of people are on Spain but they will Choke like they always have

Well what I meant was the Americas. Basically Argentina is underachieving in WC played in Europe or Asia.

It could be one of those world cups where the flashier teams drop by the roadside and the door opens again for hard working Germany.

Germany are like the Spurs. Holland like the Suns. Brazil like the Lakers. England like the Knicks. Just not sure about Argentina.

Most of Europe is in the Tropic of Cancer and South Africa is in the Tropic of Capricorn which both lie equal distances from the Equator thus having similar climates. This is why Europeans migrated to South Africa in the 1800's and started farming. I saw it on The History Channel recently.

Pavy as we know is summer now over there in Europe , and I don't know if you noticed in the Confederations cup but it was cold there , Winter in South Africa is from May to July

Chile is playing very good ,Marcelo Bielsa is a great offensive coach, I could see them go far but not that far , also south africa showed some life this past confederations cup and they at home so thats always a plus
