Neteller should let Canadians deposit to gambling sites (chat)
David: Hi, my name is David. How may I help you?
rob : hi, does Neteller accept Canadian customers yet?
David: We do. Unfortunately they are not able to transfer to gambling merchants at this time.
    rob : why is that?
David: This is a corporate decision. Unfortunately, I do not have an exact reason for this.
David: Have you heard yet of our NET+ cards?
David: They are excellent for online purchases!
David: Canadians may also use their accounts for non-gaming merchants.
rob : yeah but i only make deposits to sportsbooks and poker sites. do u know if it will be changing in the future?
David: I do not know at this time, but we have your email on file and will be sure to let you know if it is available.
rob : that would be good. It's rather unfair that people in other countries can deposit to gambling sites when canadians cant
David: Yes, I agree. I am Canadian myself and an old client. I have mentioned it many times and hopefully this will be changed soon.
David: Is there anything else I can assist you with?

I agree with you. It sucks that they stopped doing business here. Our laws didn't change. Friggin' Americans.

I have gotten very comfortable with Moneybookers but there are still quite a few books that don't use Moneybookers. I think some of them do use Neteller though and it would be a better option than the typical alternatives (**/** etc.)

couldn't the books get around this by offering person to person transfers, the same way ** is offered, have one of there employees as a receiver, must be some reason why they don't want to get around that rule

As I see it, there is no actual need for Neteller to be sneaky like that. They could just say, we are doing business-as-usual in Canada and it is not the U.S.'s business.

I'm not sure the exact reason they decided to cooperate with the US government and get out of Canada. Obviously the Americans had some kind of leverage. I don't know if they had Neteller people in custody or were threatening some kind of legal action or what the details were exactly. Whatever the case, Neteller obviously found it was in their best interest to accomodate their wishes.

I don't think Neteller is looking for a sneaky work-around at this point. I think they will just remain above-board and let nature take its course.
