I remember in the days when the NBA was great, MJ, Magic and Bird wanted to beat the best, not play with the best. Today, it's about trying to put as many superstars together on a team as possible. Magic was drafted with LA. Bird was drafted with Boston. MJ was drafted by Chicago. They didn't hop around and change teams, nor did they beg other all-star athletes to join them. Most all those players you listed were drafted by those teams, too. I don't recall MJ calling Scottie Pippen and saying "Please Scottie...come to Chicago."
