It catches the attention of people who might not be nuts about sports but more importantly... it's free press.

Bodog got front page play from AOL's celebrity gossip site.

Pinnacle did a great job with their 'Will gas hit $3 a gal in New York City?' prop when gas was $1.50 a gal.

This is smart maketing in my opinon as long as they are tasteful. Death props and such have no place in respectable books but fun props are great.

I have Will Hillary Clinton be the 2008 Democratic nominee in 2008? prop. I have NO for the limit and the limit is a juicy dime.

    Good marketing in my opinion.

They had a prop a month or so ago whether a Cincinnati Bengal would get arrested by the end of the season. I knew at the time that it was as a joke/publicity, but sure enough, a Bengal got arrested the night after they posted the prop!

I like that prediction market stuff too. They probably book real action on that kind of stuff. Same with interest rates and stocks. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pinnacle take over Tradebetx/Tradesports and do a much better job.

What was he pinched for? It wasn't online gambling was it?

Would love to see that. The TS concept is ahead of its time, but unfortunately the people running the show are not.

The problem with these props is that they often tie up money for long periods of time - the Hillary bet gives them the float on money until the nomination is decided. That's the reason I didn't get involved. But in general they're a lot of fun for all and the more they're posted the more attention they are sure to get, and if Pinnacle got into political wagers more they'd get a lot of action.

It's probably more likely that Pinnacle expands its current prop/futures section into a Prediction Market menu within current software. But, Tradesports has been shopping itself for a few years and they have a proven format. Add Pinnacle talent and it makes sense. "Has Pinny expressed interest?" no
