So I DO NOT cap golf, AT ALL... BUT... in searching for a winner/value play for the British Open, I stumbled onto this paragraph about Mike Weir:
Lefty Mike Weir is someone else to watch out for. He had a fantastic US Open finishing in a tie for 10th and was right in the middle of it until the last day. A former Masters champion (2003), this Canadian's game might be peaking at the right time. I think he'll do well at Turnberry because the course sets up very nicely for him. A lot of the holes seem to fit his ball path very nicely and he also has the length to reach the par 5's in 2 easily if the weather is good. Watch to see if he takes advantage of the par 5's and the drivable par 4 1st.
At 90 to 1, I'll take my chances with this guy who seems to be rounding into top form and ready to pull off another Major surprise.
While I'll advise any and everyone to listen to Englishmike and his Official Pick for the Open, I have to go with Mike Weir here.
This is gonna be a surprise that pays!
