    Arturo Gatti Dead In Brazil
WTF? Geez, I know it isn't Joe Montana but geez. I saw him fight Gabe Rueles, and Manfredy, and someone else in AC.

    Meant Gatti, not Gotti.

Boxer ARTURO GATTI - DEAD IN BRAZIL!!!!!!!!

SAO PAULO -- Police in Brazil say former boxing champion Arturo Gatti has been found dead in a hotel room in the northeastern state of Pernambuco.
Police investigator Edislon Alves told The Associated Press that the body of the former junior welterweight champ was discovered Saturday morning in the posh seaside resort of Porto de Galinhas, where he arrived on Friday with his wife and 1-year-old son.
Alves said police were investigating. It was unclear how the 37-year-old Canadian died.

A spokeswoman for the public safety department said Gatti's wife and son were unhurt.
"There were no bullet or stab wounds on his body, but police did find blood stains on the floor," the spokeswoman said.
Gatti won the United States Boxing Association junior lightweight title and International Boxing Federation's world junior lightweight title.
Gatti (40-9, 31 KOs) was best known for his all-action style, which was epitomized in his classic trilogy with Micky Ward in 2002 and 2003.
It's why Gatti was a fixture at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., where he drew huge crowds and fought many times, including the final nine fights of his career.
In his first fight after the Ward trilogy -- which Gatti won 2-1 -- he captured a world title in his second division, outpointing Gianluca Branco for the vacant WBC junior welterweight title.
Gatti made two defenses before losing it to Floyd Mayweather Jr. via sixth-round TKO in June 2005. He returned to defeat Thomas Damgaard but lost his final two bouts, a ninth-round TKO in a challenge to then-welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir in July 2006 followed by a one-sided beating from former "Contender" star Alfonso Gomez in July 2007.
In the dressing room following the seventh-round knockout loss to Gomez, Gatti announced his retirement.
He had been working in real estate in Montreal following his retirement, but still attended fights, as he did in April for the Timothy Bradley-Kendall Holt junior welterweight unification bout at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

this guy is crazy used to see him in the club in atlantic city getting bombed after his fights

wtf is going on in this world, people are dropping like flies!!!!

what a warrior, i thought he would die in the ring before he died out of it, dude was too tough for his own good, esp vs mayweather and baldomir who punished him late in his career

bad things happen in brazil which is why i will never go there

I think it said he was to appear as a witness in an upcoming court case. The guy was long on heart and had decent but limited ability and his fights were always entertaining. He sort of reminded me of John Kordick that played for the Canadiens.Out of all the people in sports Gatti was one of the most generous when it came to going out of his way to give autographs.I have an autographed 8''-10'' he sent me a few years back.99.9999% of jocks these days wouldn't buy a stamp and take 3 minutes of their time to put an autographed photo in an envelope and send it out to someone they never laid eyes on.From what I just read online about him, many people said similar things that he went out of his way to be nice to people.

OK,I see this broad online and who does she look like? How would you tell a woman politely without hurting her feelings that she looks like a more recent punch drunk Arturo Gatti?hehe!

I thought the wife right from the beginning because she is one that found body 8 hrs later which made it suspicious. I know nothing proven yet but I say it is her. I do not know how a woman would have strength to kill him unless she hit him from behind or he was drunk.

                                                    Lets wat and see

gatti was born in canada but was italian

blood found on purse-strap found in hotel rm, authorities believe the wife is responsible, she cannot explain how she did not know he was in the room dead for 8 hrs

since she is a brazilian hottie, she coulda gotten away with it if she had not (allegedly) killed an american

since gatti was living in the states and fighting in the states, the brazilians will not botch the investigation because they know we'll come down there and lay down the law if they do

I'm quite a bit saddened by this. Gatti was a class act and probably the most entertaining boxer I've seen in my lifetime. He could've done a ton of stuff after his boxing career.

if his wife is the same chick i saw kissing him in the ring after his last couple of fights, she is an attractive woman, i believe she was blonde (maybe fake blonde) and had a good face and a very nice body

gatti was a known womanizer and loved to party, they were getting ready to seperate and maybe she felt that no money was comin her way......................... my best guess is that gatti's partying and womanizing only increased after he retired in 07 because he was no longer training for fights and had tons more time on his hands
