If you were a college athlete
and a double digit favorite in a team sport. Would you be open to influencing the outcome so that your team would win the game SU but not beat the spread?

If so, what would be your price?

Just trying to get a feel for what might be going on already.

It goes on in college baskets mainly with big favs as you can get away with it as long as you win the game. The UNLV championship game was fixed when Duke beat them and this was suppose to happen but got out of hand. Larry J, Anthony, Augmun and a few others tanked the game. I would say about 5 dimes a player would do it.

OK. Now from the other side. If you put a 100 or 200 dimes on a game, would you explore the option of fixing college hoops games ATS (without influencing the SU outcome)?

I played for Arizona State with Headache Smith and Issaac burton and was the 3rd leading scorer. benny sillman paid me $900 to throw 4 games in '94. i was his insurance basically because i only averaged 8.4 minutes a game butt the ball bounced off my 14 size shoe just enough. i was never procesucted because it was below $1,000. i was never caught and now it's outside of statute limitatations so i got off the hook

i'd love to see how a big fix like this would go down if people try to hammer the offshores and if that would move the brick and mortatar joinbts

A buddy of mine here always says that game had to be fixed.

Well, being a former college athlete over at FIU, I would have never done that to my team or coaches.... not that we would have been favored anyway :P

If I was not going anywhere, I would do it for a few dimes. If I was a dominant player who was going places, not worth it.

                    Depends on a few things:

                    1) Current financial situation

                    2) Future in the sport worth comprimising?

                    3) Likliness of getting caught

More likely in the pros I think.

Why would you thik this would happen more in the pros? It seems to me a broke college athlete would easier to buy then an NBA player?

Agree with you. Hard to imagine you could get an NBA player who is already making millions...

I think if I was that good an athlete to where I had a chance at the pros or getting a good college degree I would not take the chance for such a small amount of money, even 100,000 is not worth giving up your chance at a pro career, but I was a swimmer and a rugby player in college so I never had to worry about the "fix" since these are two sports no one really give a crap about.

                              # 3 is the one that you have to worry about the most. If it was just you then that would not be an issue but if you are throwing the game for someone else they now have ammo if you dont do the next thing they ask, when you bring other people in to the mix and it is a money situation there is no predicting what the other person will do no matter how sincere or nice they seem.
