Well, in Schuerholz' years it seemed like 90% of the trades ATL made worked out well for them, though the jury is still out on Wren. Strange trade, haven't heard if there was any money transferred. On the surface, looks like Braves have sort of given up on Francoeur and Mets take on some extra salary but have possible upside in a guy that's still pretty young.

Mets got worse with this trade. Francouer shouldn't even have a major league uniform anymore. He absolutely sucks.

Exactly. He can't handle playing in Atlanta so he gets to go to NY. That's super.
I like Church. He got a raw deal in NY.

Church is an ok 3rd OF. Certainly an upgrade over what the Braves currently have at the corners.

He was playing well before the concussions last year and then Manuel started screwing with his playing time this year. I think he's solid.

All Francoeur is good for is his arm..Strikes out more than Rob Deer used to.

That would make him Dave Kingman.

I was hoping the Braves would package Francouer, Escobar and a minor leaguer or two to Oak for Holliday and Cabrera. Oh well...
Sucks that Frenchy didn't live up to expectations... Here's hoping Church does well...

Wow. Frank Wren strikes again. We Braves fans didn't think they could get a bag of balls for Francouer. He's just terrible. Sorry Mets fans. He's your black hole in the lineup now.
First Wren axes Smoltz....then he went medivial on Glavine in favor of bringing up Hanson (anybody still wondering about that move?)....then he rapes the Pirates for McLouth. Now this. I'm becoming a very big fan. Cold-blooded....but I like it.

Yeah, they're still not going anywhere this year with that lineup. They've got the pitching, but you're right - they need some power. I don't see it happening this season.
Another good side effect of this move is it gets Francouer out the way of Jason Heyward. He might not be ready next season .... but he might. I don't know if you are aware but Baseball America's mid-season rankings just came out and they have Heyward as the #1 prospect in all of baseball. Freddy Freeman is #11 and he's gonna be a beast at 1b too in a couple years. That's the future right there. Not Francouer.

Great trade for the Braves. Whether it helps or not this year, Braves >>>>> Mets as far as this deal goes.
