If the All-Star selection was made on career numbers then Hank Aaron would still be playing in right field.
I am glad someone gets it.
And he is in ESPN's web gems every single day. The guy is solid at the corner. Tigers fans are just more dedicated than the rest.

Inge is a tremendous defender. But Carlos Pena would have been a better choice.

I do a lil writing/publishing and am gonna go back to school to become a counselor. Perhaps, I'll give law a real shot someday, but that ship may have already sailed for me...

Yes, it sucks. What's more annoying are the MVP and Cy Young awards - they just vote on those based on a season worth of playing, totally ignoring historical stats. And don't get me started on the World Series.

Brandon Inge: 21 Home Runs and 58 RBI's. A great glove and strong arm in the field. Very deserving in my opinion.

Inge being an all-star is almost as big of a joke as Pablo Sandoval not being an all-star.....leading the Giants offense, while San Fran is 10 games over .500 and currently leading the Wild Card race.

Headstrong, disagree with you about Inge's selection being a joke, but I absolutely agree with you on Sandoval. Guy can play at least three positions -- catcher, both infield corners -- and would be perfect for Manuel to have down on his bench in the late innings, either supplying defensive versatility or providing a strong stick for a pinch-hitting role.

inge is one of the best defensively at the hot corner, has 22 hr's and his average is way up over his historical average. shoring up the left side of the infield defensively is why their pitching has improved numbers over last year and has propelled the tigers into first place for most of the season. most all star voters just pick who has the highest batting average or homers at a position, not taking into account defense, if they can lay down a situational bunt or any of the other things that make a true well rounded player. remember inge has played multiple outfield positions, can catch and now has settled into 3rd base. he is a freak athlete who can dunk (at his height) kicked a 50 yard field goal and can hit balls straight up and slap them off the metrodome roof.

inge is #1 in homers amongst AL 3rd sackers, #2 in RBI's (to Longoria) and #11 in batting average and in the top 2 or 3 defensively. he has played in 86 of 87 games and in this day and age of the coddled player that is something. tell me again why he is not deserving of a spot? i am not arguing that he should start but he is most deserving of being on the team.

Did the starter of this thread really post CAREER numbers as his excuse for being pissed Inge was selected???? The All Star game is not a LAST year or last 5 year event. Its the top players for the first half of the season... How stupid can you possibly be?????
Should Tim Wakefield not have made it because he has a career 4 ERA???

Anybody who doesnt think Inge has played his way into this all-star game needs his head examined. Career numbers are ridiculous, these are the reason you get 40 year old washed up guys playing who have long ago lost their ability to play the game at a reasonable level. I also love the fact that the guy completely ignores Inge's brilliant defense this year. He probably wonders why Griffey didnt make the team this year.

Inge is the first HRD contestant since 2005 to get shutout. Jason Bay (Pittsburgh) was the last.
