Just bought a new LCD less than two months ago.

If it doesn't break down, will be years before an upgrade....

One can purchase a SYLVANIA 42 INCh LCD 1080 at Target for 700 bucks.............wow.

Exactly. I have a very nice, large Samsung one myself and the brightness can illuminate a whole room at night and the sharpness and color definition is very solid. The black levels though do need help though Worse than most LCD's.
