I beat the closing line on the Rockies game by so much it is crazy. You guys have no idea how good this feels. I don't even need to watch the game. No matter what happens, I feel like a winner. I think I may have finally made it.
Nicky would be so proud of me...

I'll tell you something.. you guys might be mocking me and all, but believe it or not, win or lose, you are a winner. the thing people don't understand here is that the more often you beat that closing #, the higher the odds that you will end up a winner..
if you can do this consistently my friend, you will never ever need to work a real job again............ ever...Comment -

what does that say?
these kids here will continue to mock me each day, but if each poster consistently beat the closing #, i assure you there'd be no more offshore, cause books will go bankrupt from all the players..

#8Nicky, I promise you, I was not trying to mock you or be sarcastic in any way. I truly feel good about beating the closing number by as much as I did. Trouble is, I probably can't do it very often.Comment -

#9it's not easy beating the closing #.. it's hard work.. I don't do it every game either.. or else i'd be richer than billy gates.. but if you can do it more often than not, you will be ok
and just because you beat the closing # in COL tonight, does NOT mean you will win. you can still lose 14-2.. but over the long haul, you will be a winner.
and when i mean beating the closing #, if a game closed at -104/-104.. i sure hope you don't mean you got -103 or -102???
you better have gotten +101 or better on either team..Comment -

#10So Nicky....
Help me understand exactly what it is about beating the number that makes it profitable. (And I'm being sincere here). I know that the "number" has no bearing on the outcome of the game. Would you say though that the steam plays win more often than not? And then would you say that even when they win whatever percentage better than 50% that they do....getting those games at or around the actual closing number would not in the long run be profitable in and of itself? (so in other words catching the steam after if it's run it's course is not a winning strategy) And furthermore, getting those games at the number they were at before the steam hits is what makes the plays profitable over the long haul?
Is that the gist of how it works, or am I incorrect with some of the above assumptions?Comment -

#12I am sorry Nicky. This is not what I had intended this thread to turn into.
However, Nicky is right, the only way to win long term at gambling is to consistantly get a good line. Every bet you make is essentially a coin flip. If every bet you made was a -110, it would be like calling heads or tails, and when you win you get $100 and when you lose, you pay $110. Who is going to come out ahead in the long run?
The "edge" that you have is:
A. You can pick and choose the games that you bet.
B. You can "shop" around for the best line.
You fuking clowns that think you can "cap" a game are fooling yourselves. There is absolutely NOTHING that you know that Vegas doesn't already know when they set the lines to begin with. So, keep crunching those numbers and playing those hunches while Nicky makes a living at this by getting the best number.Comment -

#14Nicky, thanks for the kind words, but I don't really know anything. I love to gamble and I love to watch sports so I am trying to combine the two without losing my ass. I had the Rockies -1 1/2 so I lost the bet, but I think I am on the right track by trying to get the get the best # on any given bet that I do make.
I don't know what you have to gain by posting here, but I for one appreciate it as someone who wants to win long term.Comment -
