Haven't had significant rain in 211 days in the lower elevations where the lower end of the camp of the camp is and 40 + days at he higher elevations......Fuels are dryer than a popcorn fart...... bigger fuels are consuming to nothing and low rh's and winds don't help.
it's no longer a fire season it's a fire year.
Most fed hotshot crews as well as engine crews are laid off... the overhead with permanent status are around but most of the entry level positions aka the workers are temporary.... 1039 hour appointments (one day shy of 6 months)and are not allowed to work beyond that....
(been that way for ever).
Paradise was an accident waiting to happen.... Just unfortunate that it did....
