#44i think that amendment 3 was confusing to the voters and if any cared about gambling or sports betting they would of voted no,,it sounded good on paper let the voters decide about gambling but what it really means disney and the indians are happy and we arent getting sports betting in fla for a while

#54Golfer. I reckon if a Florida State casino wants sports betting,it has to be voted on by people. Church going old add tight ass people who think it's a sinComment -

Let's say a company wants to put a casino in Miami. Why should voters in Pensacola, about as far away from Miami as you can go and still be in Florida, have the right to say "yes" or "no?" If you say they should, then it reasons Pensacola voters would also have the ability to vote on Miami taxes, new roads and services, etc., etc. That makes no sense whatsoever.Comment -

#57The voter control of gambling means the Seminoles have a monopoly on gambling in the state. They do not need voter approval. So, when someone wants to have sports gambling in Florida, it cannot happen without 60% passage by vote. Unless the Indians want to offer it, then they can do whatever the f$ck they want. No competition means bad deals for gamblers.Comment -

#58The amendments had the backing of Disney and the Seminoles. The opposition was like a few greyhound tracks and the Poker Players Alliance. It didn’t stand a chance of not passing.
The average voter doesn’t follow amendments. As the poster above said It was worded to confuse and there was little resistance to it, so it passed in a landslide.Comment -

I think they HAVE to have dog races and paramutuels to have slots. They wanted to get rid of that law so could just be casinos...but now with no dog races, what does that mean????
I'm still not sure this new law means there won't be sports betting or resort casinos
I dont even know what to think anymore.Comment -

#64I loved greyhound racing. Started going to the track right out of the gates at 18 and gambling
on the dogs at 18. They are almost all gone now but perhaps the owners will move to friendlier
states, but also perhaps they will deem it is not worth the risk anywhere as the country becomes
more feminine. I would say 95% of greyhound bettors were men.
The sport is a much superior bet to thoroughbred racing, not even close.
. If voters approve the amendment, dog racing would continue in only five states – Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Texas and West Virginia. Two dog tracks remain in West Virginia with one each in Alabama, Arkansas and Iowa. Three tracks exists in Texas but rotate an annual meet.
