A while back I was betting an Eastern track card at an on-line wagering site. I have bet many hundreds, perhaps thousands of races over the past few years at this site.
Well on this particular day, something remarkable happened. For 2 consecutive races, wagering was available AFTER the races had been run, i.e. with 5 minutes left until post time, the wagering screen showed 20 minutes left to wager....and then when post time arrived, the wagering was still available! This continued until the next race, where the same thing happened again.
Just for kicks, I bet a few bucks to see what would happen. Well, the bets were accepeted, and eventually my account was credited with the winnings. A horse players wet dream, betting on the races already knowing the results!!!
Anyway, the first race bets were refunded a few hours later, when the official post time was shown to be after the bets were taken.
However, the second race payoff stayed in my account, probably because the official race results showed the post time to be several minutes after the actual post time. That is to say, the time I placed my bet, which was after the race had finished, was still showing as several minutes earlier than the official post time!!!
Conspiracy? Why not. I had bet so many races, and never seen the wagering available after post time. And then, the official results showed a post time that was inaccurate!
Anyone else ever hear or seen this kind of thing happening at these off-shore wagering sites?
